Well it's always awkward when you give Salaam to anyone and he/she frowns at you and passes by without replying to your Salaam.
When I was in second grade, I wasn't usually focused during biology lessons so once..
The teacher asked me in class "from where do we get light" and I answered "the lamp" :S. Obviously she meant the Sun. :S :D
:sl:
My language skill not being the best, at times I hear what people say to each other and my memory automatically learns it. I had heard many times a people greeting the other by using a word, let's call it "X". I didn't know the meaning and assumed it's just a greeting word like "Hi".
One day I visited my brother's restaurant and there was a worker there. In order not to seem impolite, I went inside to greet him and said the word "X".. And the man started to turn around himself and look around with a "Where are we?" face expression. He didn't answer back anything (was awkward at the time). My mom was just holding her laugher in and I heard what I had said when she was telling a lady about it.
X=Welcome
Ironically, the visitor/customer welcomed the worker.
I remember once in Saudi my mom wanted oranges n my dad went out to buy it. He asked the guy could he take one out of the sack, cut and taste it first uncase it was sour or dry. He blatantly refused even after my dad offered to pay for opening the sack n tasting one. In the end he grumpily budged and gave my dad one, it was sour n my dad said to me, 'this orange is just as sour as this guy' and my dad didn't know he cud speak english. OMG he was angry and he said it comes from your country 'south africa!!!!!!!'
I think this is our main problem rite, all of us that speaks english likes to talk about others that can't.!!!;D I did it toooooo many times...
when i went for interviews at universities they gave us small lectures on the course etc. anyway i wasnt listening and at then end when he asked if we had any questions everybody was silent so i stuck my hand up an asked the very thing he had just finished explaining. then he embarassed me well.....

Well i had one when i used to climb up stairs in my school days, when you get to the final step at the top, your thinking theres another step to climb and then you take another step and hit your feet real hard on the ground, and thats awkward and painful.
Or when your at a shop or somewhere where there are other people and you "think" your talking to your dear mother, and she goes off somewhere else to look at something and your still standing their talking thinking theyre still there and listening to you, and when you look back you realise shes not there, and everyone looks at you with a geeky face like this--> :-\, thats awkward
