Doctors & Scientists outside the U.S

I know we've quite a few docs here from abroad. I am interested to know how medicine is run in your country? Is it like the U.S? Do you complete medical school and then compete for a residency spot which may or may not happen? Is the govt. more involved in your training? Do you end up in the place of your choosing or it is a random assignment based on your country's needs?
How are hospitals typically? Do you prefer your system or how should it be improved?
lastly do you mind posting some photos, not of your practice or pts. but rather a tour of the hospital so we can see the facilities?
Do your hospitals welcome physicians from abroad for training? Do they accept USMLE exams or does your country have licensing exams of their own?

There are several hospitals in Bandung, but only one that used for medical students training, Hasan Sadikin, govt own hospital. Does Hasan Sadikin hospital welcome physicians from abroad for training?. Only medical students from "international class" in Universitas Padjadjaran, mostly from India, the rest are from Malaysia and Singapore.

Everytime I visit Hasan Sadikin I must be see Indians there.

that's interesting for replying.. does this training include everything or just internal medicine and how many years is it usually to train and do they get paid? I found out that in some countries doctors pay for their training not the other way around and in a way I don't despise that because I think the learning would be more sincere and there would be less abuse by the program itself since many bad things happen especially to the patient with unregulated hours and abuse of people trying to get through their training. I have been in OR's where the attending actually threw surgical instruments at the resident.. most of them can't say anything for many reasons. Things might appear well on the surface but being kicked out of a program is a death sentence plus many who are being sponsored for work are more likely to be abused especially in community hospitals.

Training in the hospital?. That's for medical students, not for doctors who have graduated. Those students don't get paid in training in hospital because they do not work for hospital but learn from doctors in hospital who many of those doctors are also their lecturers in medical faculty.

Medical students cannot choose in which hospital they want to get training. But they must learn in hospital that appointed by the faculty.

About medical study in Indonesia. There are two basic 'stage'. First is about 3.5 years. After graduated they got title "sarjana kedokteran/s.ked" (scholar of medicine), and they are not allowed to work as doctor.
Second is about 2 years. They get title "dokter/dr" (doctor) and allowed to work as doctor.
Or, they can continue their study in specialization or to higher level.

In Indonesia, medical faculty is the most expensive faculty in universities. Dental faculty is not as expensive as medical faculty.
