I was just wondering if anyone knows about whether or not contact lenses are permitted in Islam?
It is a stupid question, but I wear them because glasses are more expensive, and because I hate glasses in every way (they annoy me, arebt comfortable, and personally, I think they look stupid on me. they also slip off my face when I bend over *shrug*)...
Would they be classed as "medecine"?
Also, Is eye surgery allowed (at the moment I guessing the answer will be yes, since its the only cure for the problem that I have-just want to check)?

1. Muzna - Pakistani or Arab term used for someone that excels or over-achieves. Usually used as a congratulatory or praising remark.
Actual Muznas are a rare find. Many fakes are in circulation as parents attempt to influence their female offspring's personality and destiny by naming them Muzna.
Question:
I want to know the islamic view on wearing colored contact lenses.
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
There are two types of contact lenses:
Ophthalmic contact lenses: those that are used to correct long- or short-sightedness etc. There is nothing wrong with using this kind of contact lenses on the advice of a specialist eye-doctor.
Coloured cosmetic contact lenses: these come under the rulings on adornment. If a woman wears them for her husband, there is nothing wrong with it. If she is wearing them where others will see her too, then it should not cause any fitnah or temptation. There is also the condition that they should not cause any harm, and there should be no element of cheating or deceiving, such as a woman wearing them when she meets the man who is proposing marriage to her. Also, they should not be extravagantly expensive, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… and waste not by extravagance…” [al-An’aam 6:141].
I was guessing they would be, I just wanted to check...

Salamualikum.
Clear contacs for vision is okay but wearing them to attract others attention or even maybe just wearing them can cause a hell hazard of attetion to non mehram.
Talking of my own personal issue. I used to eb mad about contact when i was a christain and all i do is waste dosh on contacts and then my eyes got messed cause they used to itch ALOT. So i didn't wear them for few days and i found few little spots down below my eyeball and it was horrid so when i went to doctors to find out why he said to me 'did you buy the lenses or did the Optican gave you them?' what could i say so obviously i bought them so the doctor said no wonder your having itchiness on your eye. *am not scaring anyone here so don't think i am, it's real and happened to me*
Now all i wear is 'sometimes' i wear lenses which are for my visual thats it. Actually don't even need to wear them anymnore because my visual seems to be fine alhmdulillah.
Waste of money buying lenses be proud of what colour you got alhamdulillah.
Think on a personal level colored contact lenses attract the wrong sort of attention? I know two of my friends who wear them devotedly and they look very unnatural. .. I believe everyone was given the eye and hair and skin color that is suitable for them. Allah does love variety, that is why he made us in so many different shapes and forms and colors.... Nothing quite as garish as a beautiful sun drunken woman who gives away her raven tresses for a brassy unnatural hair color damaged with frizz, and nothing quite as awful as someone with mysterious dark eyes, that tries to discard all that depth for a super natural blue or hazel. it detracts from the individuality.
When people go for plastic surgery, they might have nose shape number 3 or nose shape number 5, when you go to med school, you realize there is only a limited number of ways you can perform surgery, (creation and form from Allah however is infinite and wondrous). modification isn't necessarily the good thing cosmopolitan or vogue make it out to be--That is my personal view, and I hope I didn't offend.
