Re: Muslim beliefs about Jesus depicted in the Christian Bible

I dont really understand your question. But of course we believe that the injeel which was an oral message that was sent to Jesus (may the peace and blessings of god be upon him) is Islamic doctrine and that it was due to people and time changed. The gospel of Mark is the oldest but anonymous and clearly not by an eye-witness and yet it describes Jesus (may the peace and blessings of god be upon him) as a prophet that was promoting the law, belief in one God (not trinity) and not at all the later Christian tradition. The only gospel that is actually kind of preaching the modern view is the least historical gospel, gospel of John, written by a person who lived 70 years after Jesus death and we are lucky if he ever learned much from eye-witnesses. HE had pagan origin and when the christians took away the Jewishnes from the faith it was easy for the pagan traditions to influence Christianity. So we believe in the historical Jesus, atleast most of it. MAny christians accuse Islam for beig ignorant and contradicting history when saying he survived crucifixion and that this is improbable but of course God made it possible for him to either escape before or survive the crucifixion. This also explains why people started believing in the recirrection sinse they weren't as updated as we are. They hered people talking. People said the famous preacher was dead. Then he was alive, atleast what they thought. Maybe the disciples would believe this miracolous thing that he survived but only if they were informed. I am not an expert and I advice you to read with an open heart. I was an orthodox christian and I have been studying for maybe one year and now I'm a muslim. And Allah knows best.

Jesus pbuh has an important role in Islamic history when he will lead all Muslims against dajjal and those who will not follow him are people of fire.

Re: Muslim beliefs about Jesus depicted in the Christian Bible

I've always been curious about what Muslims believe regarding the role that Jesus plays?
We believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was one of the mightiest messengers of God, who preached the same essential message that all the other messengers sent by God preached. We believe that :

    he was the messiah.
he was born miraculously of the noble virgin Mary (peace on her) without any male intervention.
he gave life to the dead with God's permission.
he healed those born blind and lepers with God's permission.
We do not believe that he was killed, crucified, nor died for anyones' sins. God took him from this earth miraculously.
We also do not believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) ever claimed divinity, or that he was God, son of God, part of a trinity, or that he said "Worship me".
We believe that he'll return to earth near the end of time.
We do not reject him (as Jews do), nor do we at the other end of the scale deify him (as Christians do).

Muslims love and respect Jesus (peace be upon him) and believe in him as he was; one of the noblest and purest of humanity to ever walk the earth, and one of the greatest messengers of Allah, sent to the Children of Israel. Neither he, nor any other messenger, ever claimed divinity, or to be God's son. The message didn't suddenly change when it came to Jesus (peace on him), nor did he rebel against God and claim divinity for himself instead of or alongside God. He told people to worship Allah, "My Lord and your Lord":

And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness." (Qur'an 5:116-117)

It is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be worshippers of me rather than/apart from Allah," but [instead, he would say], "Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied." Nor could he order you to take the angels and prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you had been Muslims? (Qur'an 3:79-80)

Re: Muslim beliefs about Jesus depicted in the Christian Bible

    A rhyme about Isa alayhissalaam
    Isa = Jesus in Arabic
Alayhi Salaam means “peace be on him”

(A rhyme about Jesus, peace be on him)

Of the messengers mentioned in the Qur'aan
    One is Isa alayhissalaam

He had a very miraculous birth
And was raised by God in departure from Earth

An angel came to give Mary good news
Of a pious son whom Allah would choose

She said to him, "How can that be?"
He said, "This is Allah's decree".

He spoke to his folk, as a baby, and said
that he was God's servant, prophet, and blessed.

To his mother he was as kind as can be,
He did not behave rudely or arrogantly

He had no father, but was the son of Maryam,
He wasn't divine, but as human as Adam

He walked the streets, ate normal food
His mother was a lady of truth

He did not claim to be God's son
And told them God was only One

He was faithful and true to His Lord
And didn't rebel and say, "I'm God"

He was appointed by God as maseeh
But didn't tell people, "pray to me"

He did not ever claim divinity
Nor was he part of a trinity

He confirmed Torah, and was given Injeel
A guidance and light for Bani Isra'eel

By Allah's leave, he brought the dead to life,
By Allah's leave, he healed the lepers and blind

He foretold of a messenger yet to come
Whose name would be Ahmad , the praised one

He was not crucified nor was he killed
But Allah Ta'aalaa did as He willed

Isa will return near the end of time,
Of the Hour, it will be a great sign.

    Maryam = Mary in Arabic
    Maseeh = Messiah in Arabic
Injeel = The scripture revealed by God to Jesus, peace be on him
Bani Isra’eel = Children of Israil in Arabic
Ahmad = The prophet Muhammad May the peace, blessings and salutations of Allah be upon him
    Ta’aala = exalted in Arabic
    The Hour = Judgement day
