Hi everyone. I was born to a Muslim family. I completed Quran (Arabic recitation) before I was 8. I've always loved learning about Islam and I still enjoy learning about and discussing it today.

I was always doing Dawah to friends and colleagues. I played a small part in some people becoming Muslim.

At some point last year I left Islam and I'm an atheist now.

I look forward to taking part in the discussions here and getting to know you all.

no...he means what would be the purpose of this discussion?
you have left Islam for whatever reason...it is clear you are not seeking to be convinced to come back to Islaam...your only purpose seems to be messing with the minds of the muslims.

so I am not taking part of this discussion. go look elswere for entertainment.

Seems like u did the biggest mistake of ur life. If it was due to any calamity or hardship , then let me tell u , u didn't undergo any of those hardships which the prophets of Allah(peace be upon them) underwent. And they were just human beings like us. They also had times when being patient was the hardest part.
And u know , u made one being happy which is satan. U know, he must be very happy. His aim is to take people to Hell. he invited u nd u accepted his invitation.
While Allah calls u towards Jannah. He wants to see u happy. This life is not made for us. If this life was made for us, then Allah would have surely removed every bad feeling, every hardship from our lives. But no. ..Our home is Jannah. We all belong to Jannah.
And u had already earned a plenty of reward when u completed the Quran. Do u want to lose that reward and go to jahannam?
Allah has been blessing u since birth, u were born as muslim. That's one of the greatest blessings anyone can ever get. U know, there are so many people out there who have reverted to islam but their families are not muslim nd they still worship Allah with same enthusiasm coz they know the fact that THIS LIFE IS TEMPORARY nd Allah will make a way out for them..Nd u r already blessed with muslim family, and they don't torture u for practicing islam( i m sure).

If u went into darkness just for fun, then no one has guaranteed u tomorrow... Death can knock at ur door anytime.. even now... Then try to imagine living an eternal life in Jahannam..

Therefore I again invite u to islam.
A step from darkness towards light.

How have I messed with Muslims?

I used to feel the same way about ex Muslims when I was a Muslim. For a long time I even (rather stupidly) believed that all exMuslims were fake. So i can understand why you feel that way.

No, I'm straight. Is this something you're struggling with as a Muslim? Sorry I can't help you with it as it's not something I know enough about. I understand it must be hard to deal with. Maybe open a thread?

No, not at all. I'm lucky that I have a good life and good health. I left because Islam doesn't make logical, moral or spiritual sense to me anymore.

This isn't true. Islam teaches that you are led astray by Allah who veils your heart and mind. It's not something I can do by myself in opposition to Allah's will (according to Islam)

I have probably read the entire Quran in Arabic over 100 times and used to help teach it to other children when I was at mosque as one of the Imam's assistants after I had completed it myself the first 2 or 3 times. However, I no longer believe that repeating something in a language you dont understand gives you any benefits. So I haven't lost any reward because there was never any reward to lose.

I'm also sure that my family would not torture me for being a Muslim and hopefully not for being an exMuslim either.

I can no longer believe in an all powerful entity who deliberately creates thinking, reasoning and feeling beings who this entity KNOWS will disobey and then tortures them for eternity.

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.

If you've memorized the Quran, then how have you not been taught to understand it? Or why haven't you taken the time to learn it yourself?
How can you reject something based on the regurgitation of other atheists without doing your own research first? You mentioned that you've memorized the Quran as if it gives you legitimacy to your choice towards being an atheist, but if you haven't learned it then you're contradicting yourself by saying that your choice was reasonable, aren't you?

And I do wonder then, why have you come to an Islamic forum if you have rejected that part of your life?

I used to love all that stuff when I was a Muslim. Dajjal, Yajuj and Majuj, the Mahdi, Isa's return and so on. Did you know that Muhammad thought that the Day of Judgement would happen shortly after Muhammad died? There is a Hadith where people came to Muhammad and said they found Dajjal chained on Island ready to be released. Do you know Muhammad used to be worried that one of the men who lived during his time was the Dajjal and Muhammad used to spy on that man outside the man's house till the man's mother asked Muhammad and his companion to leave the man alone?

There's a hadith where Muhammad pointed to a small boy and said if the boy lives, the boy would not grow very old till the Last Hour comes. So clearly, Muhammad thought the Last Hour would come within the next 100 years (at most and that's stretching it). So I'm sorry but unless there is a 1500 year old man still wondering around, there's no Last Hour.

I'll try to explain. You're a Muslim, which means you believe in Allah as an all-powerful God. But you don't believe in the Hindu Bhagwan, the Greek Zeus, the Sikh Karta Purakh or Jesus Christ as God. You are an atheist about every 'God' humans believe in except for Allah.

I am the same except that I also include Allah in that list.

As a Muslim you dont fear the wrath of Bhagwan to throw you in Narg, you dont fear Zeus throwing you in Hades, you don't fear Jesus sending you to Hell.

I am the same except I dont fear Allah throwing me in Jahanam as well as all the others you dont believe in either. That's the only difference.

    Thank you for the welcome.

I think you've misunderstood me. I have completed the Quran in Arabic not memorised it. I'm not a Hifz/Hafiz. I was still a Muslim when I had never read the Quran's translation. It was only after I read the Quran's translation thoroughly and many, many Hadith as well that I eventually left Islam. I was still a Muslim before I had read Quran and Hadith properly.

Am I not welcome here? When I was a Sunni Muslim I joined Shia forums, Christian forums and even Atheist and Hindu forums and they were always very welcoming and willing to discuss.
