Of the thousands of Ahadith, due to its virtues, many scholars have compiled small collections of 40 hadith. This is to make it easy on the lay person to study, memorize, understand and practice the beautiful teachings of the Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Imam Suyuti’s collection of 40 very short ahadith have to do with legal judgments, actions and asceticism. Very easy to memorize and practice upon. And Aisha Bewley translates it very beautifully into contemporary english.
