    Re: Why is Christmas haram?

    Good question!

First of all, I want to tell you because the Prophet(pbuh) said that Muslims have "Minor Festival" and "Festival of Sacrifice". And also he said that every nation has its own festivals and we have ours.

And, there was a time when he was in the house with two little girls something like this, they were singing and a man came into the Prophet's house and he said "musical intstruments of Satan in the Messenger's house!?" and you know what the Prophet said to him? He said: "For every nation there is festivals, and we have ours which is Minor Festival and Festival of Sacrifice".

The Prophet did not said anything to those girls, he respected their festival, and that is a lesson so that we can do accordingly which I mean, to respect others' festivals without telling them what is right or wrong, and we should let them discover themselves.

I remember a little stroy from Quran about some people asked politely Prophet's permission to let them have a Christmas tree, and he got mad and he has said: "NO tree". Because, it is an imitation of disbelievers.

However, when he did said that, he got mad because he was afraid for his nation to fall into disbelief, and for that he forbid it, but if you have a clear intention not to copy them in belief but just participating only, then I think it should be all fine, but you must also recite "I seek refuge from God against disbelief and puberty" so that you won't end up in disbelief if God wishes.

Hopefully this is the answer you're looking for.

I haven't seen that video. I know Christmas is haram in Islam. To the Christians, it is a celebration of birth of son of god,
but Allah does not beget nor begotten (Surah al Ikhlas) so there is no Christmas in Islam. Also Allah warns those who claim that He has a son (Surah al Kahf)
Why muslim celebrates Christmas, in the middle east or anywhere else, I have no idea why they are taking Allah's warning lightly.

    Re: Why is Christmas haram?

It is their choice, if you want you can do to. I am a Muslim and guess what? My mother is a Christian and I was celebrating Christmas with her since I was born until present, but still I do not believe in Christmas, it's a matter of faith. What matters as a Muslim is that as long as you don't believe in Christmas while you celebrate it just for fun, then everything should be fine. But it is much preferable if you don't celebrate that, because you may fall into shirk, you never know what's gonna happen, so that's why we have Minor Festival and Festival of Sacrifice, because they are original and its creator is God Himself, because He created those festivals for us, and they are in the same time 100% true. First of, "Festival of Sacrifice" is when a prophet I guess, wanted to sacrifice his own son to needy people and God has sent a sheep in order to sacrifice and so, his son was saved, and that's the day when the "Festival of Sacrifice" is born, and it is mentioned in Quran already. And "Minor Festival" is celebrated after the end of Ramadan, next day after the end of Ramadan if I'm not mistaken..., so in these two festivals it is even obligatory to believe in it. But have you heard about Christmas in Quran? No, because it says in Quran that God did not taken any son for Himself. You can celebrate whatever you want, but what matters if you don't believe in those innovated festivals, that's all what it matters. Where you raised as a Christian, and then converted to Islam later? Sometimes you may celebrate other festivals just only to make new friends or just to show that you can be friendly person, or sociable. If you don't want to celebrate, it's up to you, if you want to celebrate it, it's also up to you, so it's your personal decision and choice, you have free will. Myself, I celebrate it, just to show some respect for my mother because she gives me gifts on Christmas, and I want to show her some love, but that doesn't mean I should believe that it is Jesus's birthday or it is you know what. Christians also agreed that neither in Bible mentioned the exact date of Jesus's birthday, it only says something in winter it is his birthday, that's it. Myself I don't believe neither in this, because Ixdo not find anywhere in Quran that says like what in Bible says. Hopefully I have said everything correct, if Ixhaven't said, please just correct me. Some they celebrate it just because it is fun, because they were raised as Christians, then converted to aisle,(don't know for sure) and they want to only have some respect for others's festivals without telling them anything. Salaam

Soon not wishing someone a 'Merry Christmas' or a 'Happy New Years' will be considered a 'hate' crime.

    Re: Why is Christmas haram?

Christmas is a day when the Christians wish one another a happy birth of the son of God.

    Read what the Qur'aan says

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."

You have done an atrocious thing.

The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.

    Qur'aan 88-91

I think it is very obvious why Christmas is haraam.

    That is completely wrong.

If someone killed someone's mother would they celebrate with that guy on that day for fun?

What the Christians say about Allaah having a son and celebrating it is much worse than killing a mother.

Muslims do not celebrate such nonsense for fun.

    Re: Why is Christmas haram?

That's right. Celebrating Christmas is clearly forbidden in Islam. Even celebrating for fun, we can have fun family time on other days during the year.

Of course Christians celebrate it, but we are not Christians, so why should we celebrate it too - not to mention Allah warns us in the Qur'an?

And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. (29:8)

Respecting others' festival has nothing to do with celebrating it with them, or even greeting them for it.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever takes the wrongdoer's side in a dispute or supports wrongdoing, he will remain subject to the wrath of Allah until he gives it up.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
