    بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

Hadhrat Thanvi رحمة الله عليه writes in his Malfoozhaat:

"A person who is not qualified in any mundane science/profession, if questioned, will say without hesitation that I have no knowledge in this field. If someone asks an engineer about a medical issue, he will unhesitatingly say that he is not a doctor. Similarly, if someone asks a doctor anything about engineering, the former will unhesitatingly say that he is not an engineer. But, this attitude is not adopted for the Deen. However, the Deen is regarded so insignificant that every person will shove his opinion into the Deen. Here he will not say, 'I am not an `Aalim."

    Re: Wise Malfoozhaat

Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi رحمة الله عليه writes:

"No one is safe from criticism whether he be an `Aalim or a Jaahil, pious or impious. Ignore what the critics say and do what is right. What is in accordance with the Sharee`ah, execute it regardless of criticism. Do not transgress the limits. The best goal is to create a beautiful bond with Allaah Ta`aalaa. Then, whether someone praises or insults, it will be of no significance. Every deed of a man of this status is for the sake of Allaah Ta`aalaa. Such a person is called an `Aarif." Re: Wise Malfoozhaat

    بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

"Someone saw Hadhrat Mahmudul Hasan Deobandi in a dream. He asked about his condition. Hadhrat Mahmudul Hasan replied, 'Once, there was too much salt in the food. I ate the food without the slightest complaint. On the basis of this act, I was forgiven."

[Malfoozhaat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, v.4, p.14]

    ------------

The reason behind this is that abstaining from criticising food is from the Sunnah. Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam never criticised any food. If he liked it, he would eat it. If he did not like it, he would not eat it. Never were there any complaints.

Shaykhul Hind (Maulana Mahmudul Hasan) had abstained from criticising the food in order to follow the Sunnah. Shaykhul Hind was one of the `Ulamaa who were staunchest in adhering to every Sunnah of Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam, even those people deem small and insignificant.

    The Root of Kufr:

"Remember: Hubb-e-Dunyaa (love for this world) is the root of kufr. Do not consider it to be something light. Do not consider the root (cause of kufr) to be something light. I am not saying this just from my own side, but rather, what I am saying is supported by the statements of the buzrugs."

    Re: Wise Malfoozhaat

Only seek Nisbat Ma`allaah (Connection with Allaah Ta`aalaa)

He said: "What insaan is supposed to do is to focus all of his intention onhis work. Whatever is in his Taqdeer, he will acquire it. As for the rest of thehaalaat, enthusiasm, etc., then do not have desire for it because those arenon-volitional matters. Rather, seek only Nisbat Ma`allaah. When this isacquired, one will realise what pleasure and delight there is in it and willrealise that in comparison, all haalaat, etc., are nothing, because this (NisbatMa`allaah) is Daa'im and Baaqi (eternal and perpetual, not ephemeral). Theeffect of this Nisbat is this, that the person will flee from destroying therights of others like how a sheep flees from a wolf."
