    Temporary Hair Extensions??

    Report bad ads?

    Are Clip-in hair extensions haram?
Because we are going to hold a sleepover (all girls) next month and I'm thinking of getting hair extensions for the excitement. You know, sleepovers usually consists of activities like doing makeovers where you do a complete makeovers on your friends. We're not going to show it to males because everybody know its haram. We're just going to do it for fun not for beauty because we wear scarves anyway. And those clip-in extensions aren't even semi-permanent or permanent. They're just clip ins. You can take it off.
Is it haram to do like so?
Pls help me so I won't do something that is haram.

    Thanks in advance,
    SB

    Re: Temporary Hair Extensions??

As Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

It is haraam for a woman to wear false eyelashes because they come under the heading of hair extensions, for which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who do that.

Al-Bukhaari and Muslim (2122) narrated that Asma’ bint Abi Bakr said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said:

“O Messenger of Allaah, I have a daughter who is newly married, and she had the measles and her hair fell out. Can I give her hair extensions?” He said: “Allaah has cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.”

Al-Bukhaari (5205) and Muslim (2123) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that a girl from among the Ansaar got married and she became sick and her hair fell out. They wanted to give her hair extensions, so they asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about that, and he cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.

    Al-Nawawi said:

The one who fixes hair extensions is the one who joins the other hair to the woman’s hair. The one who has that done is the woman who asks someone else to do that for her. These ahaadeeth clearly state that it is haraam to fix hair extensions, and the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done are both cursed in general terms. This is the more correct meaning.

Did hair extensions even exist back then? I don't think so.

Even if they did; I think that hadith is referring to if you permanently put them on and you don't wear hijab etc.

If the sleepover is all girls and you're going to show it to no males etc. as you have said, I think it's fine.

May Allah (SWT) forgive me if I am wrong.

It is Haram to wear wigs and hair extensions made from human hair and synthetic material as it is considered a change in the creation of Allah.

You can look back to Aisha's links and read them. It is 100% haraam.

It is not allowed for us to put it on our head.

Therefore, using human hair in any shape or form would be unlawful. It is prohibited to join one’s hair with the hair of another human or to wear a wig made out of human hair, regardless of whether the hair is completely joined and fitted into the hair or whether it is merely a wig which can be removed and re-worn whenever one desires. The ruling would be same even if one had a valid excuse in that one’s hair fell out, as the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did not permit it even in such situations.

There is no evidence that wigs etc. existed in the Prophet's (Peace Be Upon Him) time.
Do you have any Qu'ran ayahs?

as it is considered a change in the creation of Allah.
You mention because of this it is haram.

So putting on deodrant is haram aswell because you are adding something onto your body to help sweat and you are altering the way your body take cares of sweat? It is temporary. This isn't something like plastic surgery or something, the sister who posted merely wants to have a little temporary fun.

May Allah (SWT) forgive me if I am wrong.

By the way, I am not looking for an argument. Just 'debating' if you like

Are you think it is halal? Please give me a reasons. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) have told us that it is prohibited. I won't go against any of it from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Please forgive me I don't have a time to look up in the Quran for this. We will have to wait for other's views.

Yes, I think it is halal and there is nothing wrong with it. What harm could it possibly do?

I'm Muslim aswell sis', I ofcourse won't go against anything the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said. I'm just saying hair extensions is a modern-ish thing; I don't think they existed at the Prophet (PBUH)'s time, so therfore the hadith could've been fabricated. Anything the Prophet (PBUH) said has to be in the Qur'an somewhere, that's why I ask for Qu'ran reference. May Allah (SWT) forgive me if I am wrong.

Yeah but, if you don't have any hair at all and have to wear a wig is that haram too? How is that changing Allah's creation if it's fallen out anyway?

    Question Re: Temporary Hair Extensions??

hmmm.. I'm still confused. Is it haram? Because I don't think hair extensions or wigs exist in Prophet (PBUH)'s time too. But I'll just accept it if its haram...

But right now, we all are not sure whether its halal or haram.

    Re: Temporary Hair Extensions??

When something is made haram, it's to avoid something that is harmful to ourselves or others e.g. telling lies is haram as it's deceitful. So wearing wigs/extensions to show other people you have something you don't is deceit. That's understandable.

But as far as changing Allah's creation, then how about the story of the muslim whose nose was cut off in battle. The prophet (PBUH) allowed him to get a silver nose right? So I wonder how it can be haram if you're not doing it out of deception?

Does anyone know what I'm trying to say? lol

    yes that's true.

I understand what Muslimah_Sis said. Wearing hair extensions and making people thinks its yours is just like lying. You're lying that its yours when its actually not.

But what we're (me and my friends) are trying to do is put hair extensions to each other for entertainment. Therefore, its not lying since all of us will know that they're actually extensions. So its not haram?

We're not going to impress boys with it since we all wear hijab...

    So???

    Re: Temporary Hair Extensions??

^although I don't see any harm in this idea of entertainment my honest opinion would be to leave something that is doubtful. It seems innocent enough, but it could lead to a sister wanting them for real? When anything poses a risk of leading to haram, no matter how harmless it may seem in the beginning then I would say to find something safer to do. How about henna patterns? Home-made face masks? Hair styles? Ect.

I found this wonderful site and have been meaning to share it here. Check it out Sugarblush. It tells you how to make home-made beauty products and even hair dyes. I'm sure you'll love it.
