Asalaamalaikum brothers and sisters.

I have a question which I have been wrestling with. Please see the two authentic hadith below:

Al-Bukhaari reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whatever of the izaar (lower garment) is below the ankles is in the Fire." (al-Bukhaari, no. 5787)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are three whom Allaah will not look at or praise on the Day of Judgement and theirs will be a painful punishment: the one who wears his garment below his ankles, the one who reminds others of his favours, and the one who sells his product by means of making false oaths" (reported by Muslim, no. 106)

I researched the many different answers regarding the Izar above the ankles and the conclusion is that the majority of scholars of the 4 madhabs view that it is not haraam - see link: https://islamqa.info/en/answers/1022...e-ankle-isbaal

However, I cannot find a single scholar discuss the issue of Izar vs Pants.

1) I do not believe that Trousers/Pants is the same as Izar in the linguistic meaning or the meaning that the Prophet SAW and the Sahaba understood.

2) The Prophet (SAW) wore Izar and he wore trousers as well. See the link to IslamQA (https://islamqa.info/en/answers/1266...ah-be-upon-him)
2a) In the above link, you will see that the respected scholar Muhammad Munajid from IslamQA even differentiated between Izar and Trousers/Pants.

3) With regards to the Izar, or Lower Garment, which is a garment that wraps around the body (like a large towel wrapped around the waist), it makes perfect sense for it not to be below the ankle, as it would be very uncomfortable to walk with. This further makes sense in that an individual would have to go out of his way to make the garment longer, which makes it more uncomfortable/difficult to walk just for the sake of having a longer garment - which again makes sense as one of the only reasons someone would do that is to show off.

4) With regards to the pants/jeans/trousers, how can that be understood to be the same as an Izar, when the Sahaba's custom clothes consisted mostly of Izar and not trousers/pants.
4a) If it is the case that isbaal does not apply to pants/trousers/jeans, and that they MAY go below the ankle, then this would make sense, as I don't know anybody that wears trousers below the ankle to show off (other than individuals who purposely lower their pants so their butts can show, and thus the pants drag on the ground).

The isbaal situation is a major sin, in which, if arrogance comes with it, Allah SWT will not even look at the individual on the day of judgment. Furthermore, the Salah of a person with Izar below the ankle is not accepted.

If you walk around the majority of the masjids around the world today, without a doubt, most people that wear pants/trousers/jeans have it go below their ankles - even beggars and homeless people have pants that go below their ankle - so at what point can that be considered arrogant or showing off, and furthermore, none of their Salah is accepted?

Finally, can anybody confirm that there is indeed a difference in the linguistic meaning between Izar and Pants/Trousers/Jeans, and that the prohibition of letting it hang below the angles only applies to the Izar and not the Pants/Trousers/Jeans?

Jazak Allahu Khair.
