Re: Can you say God in English, and still reffer to Allah in meaning?

Ilaah comes from the arabic verb alaha ya'lahu which is the same as 3abada ya3budu means to worship, ilaah means ma'luh the worshipped (ma3buud) , and Rabb is lord. sheikhul islam ibnu taymiyyah rahimahullah mentions this in his book aqeedatul waasitiyyah..

Our teachers in Yemen used to criticise us heavily when they would hear us say Oh my God, they would say call Allah by his names that are mentioned in the qur'aan an sunnah, then my teacher recited the ayah " wa lillahil asma'ul husnaa fad3uuhu bihaa"
"verily Allah has the best names, so invoke him by them..." and we all know God isn't one of them...but when we all say God we all know amongst muslim we're referring to Allah ta3aala,
i was satisfied by this cos, Allah ta3aala wants us to call him by the names his mentioned to us, and calling him by his names is 3ibaadah too, seek the reward with Allah, its good to get our tongues used to calling Allah by his names and attributes....
i never heard ever that it was haraam or anything though, and Allah knows best.
