An agnostic is someone who believes that its impossible to tell whether there is or isnt a God.....and the reason such a person isnt aethiest is because an aethiest believes there definately is NO God...r

Isn't that confusing for the person.. because if they're muslim - they believe the Qur'an is from Allaah.. they can't say today it is and tomorrow it's not...
lol maybe they're just uncertain and want clarification? And maybe they need to reflect on the creation of Allaah by travelling and going abroad etc? that can be an act of worship in of itself too if it's done with the right intentions and by permissible means.
Allah swt tells us to look at his signs and reflect, which means that when u reflect u see God's signs so u say that there is a God. and Allah swt also says in the Qur'an:
Surah Al-Baqara 2:1-5
1. A.L.M. 2. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah. 3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them; 4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter. 5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.
so a muslim should also believe in the unseen !!! it is a must. so you can't drop a belief just bc you can't see it or feel it or ...
Unless agnostic also means that all you;re trying to say is you do believe there is one god, but jus dont think anyone can ever prove it...????
I think this idea of agnostic-ism, is just an idea from jahilya. We don't belong to such ideas nor we need to bring new terms. We already have ours,from QUr'an and Sunnah which are safe to use.

He said something like 'i might know that bob who lives down the street exists, but he won't be happy with me until i listen to what he says.'
I don't mean that in an evil way, but it's the reality - even if you know someone exists, that isn't the main idea, the main idea is to realise that Allaah exists by reflecting on His creation etc. and then worship Him, the One who gives us all we have, and all we will ever get - and obey the Messenger which He sent to us. Then He will be pleased with us, and bestow His Mercy and Reward in this life and the one to come.

being muslim and being agnostic is two opposite thing, one believe in the Creator of all the worlds without ANY doubt, other(agnostic) is still doubtful, so how can they be alike?
moreover, one should not say even in jokes that he or she is agnostic (God forbid), these are serious words that can take you to the lowest of the low.
we believe in unseen, eg. didnt see soul but believe it always with the living person etc.
as brother vpb mentioned the ayah, muslim believe in unseen, khallaas.

make sure no physical fight is involved when u advise her.
^ nope. her whole family are haji and they're quite practicing... in the sense that they have enough knowledge to know that agnosticism is not acceptable in islam

one thing that is usually said that you should not think of Creator rather think about His creation, use the creation as a proof for (the Greatness of) the Creator, and do not burden yourself with what is beyond your understanding
The statement of Allaah the Exalted,
“And your God is One God; there is no true god besides Him. He is the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth...” [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:163-164]
Just like to share this point, becuz some ppl. really get lost due to thinking of something which is beyond their comprehension.
contemplate upon these verses:
" Behold! In the creation of the Heavens and the Earth; In the alternation of the night and day; In the sailing of the ships through the Oceans for the profit of mankind; In the rain which God sends down from the skies, and the life that He therewith to an earth that is dead; In the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the Earth; In the change of the winds, and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth -Indeed these are signs for a people that are wise." [The Qur'aan 2:164]
"It is He who has made the sun a shining glory and the moon a light of beauty and has measured out their stages, that you might know the number of years and their reckoning.Allah did not create this but in Truth. He explains His signs in detail for people who understand.[The Qur'aan 10:5]
"He has created the heavens and the earth with Truth. Far is He above having the partners that they ascribe to him. He has created mankind from a sperm drop; and behold this (same) man becomes anopen disputer! And the cattle, He has created them for you; in them is warmth (warm clothing) and numerous benefits, and of them you eat." [The Qur'aan 16:3-5]
"Blessed be He who sent down the Criterion to His servant that it may be an admonition to all creatures. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; no son has he begotten, nor has He any partner in His dominion; It is He who created all things and gave them their due proportions.Yet they have taken besides Him gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor do they control life nor death nor Resurrection."[The Qur'aan 25:1-3]

Then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to you from all sides and when you think that you are encircled by them, you call upon God making your faith pure for Him alone saying :'If You deliver us from this we shall truly be grateful.' But when He delivers you, behold! you rebel in the earth wrongfully. O mankind, your rebellion against God is only against your own selves - a brief enjoyment of this wordly life, then in the end unto Us is your return We shall inform you of that which you used to do." [The Qur'aan 10:22-23]

Sounds like it is just a simple misunderstanding in the definition of agnostic. If a person thinks that to be agnostic means they can not "Prove" the existence of God(swt). I could understand how a person can have a strong belief in God(swt), be deeply religious, but still think they should call themselves an agnostic because they can not prove the existence of God(swt) to a non-believer.
To me this sounds more like confusion of terms and that it will only take an understanding of definitions.
It sounds like confusion as said by many.. why dont you ask her questions and clarifying and if u lack deep deep knowledge then, being her friend tag her along to talks and circles...
It is a case of her being born muslim.. but because she hasnt properly read the translation of the Qur'an, many of her questions are unanswered.. You should tell her if she calls herself Muslim, it is a Muslim's duty to gain knowledge.. and that will make her see things clearly all on its own InshaAllah!
and pray for her.. I have seen people worse off and when they hit rock bottom, there's only two ways.. over n out or openin ur eyes to the to truth.. just catch her before she falls..

Yh I understand what she means by that.........I kind of get feeling like that aswell sometimes.....I know god is there........but I just get these feelings......
because u pray to Allah........5 times a day...and do all this and that.........and u make dua's........but none of them gets accepted not even close..........U feel its either Allah don't care or he isn't there........even tho u know he is there.......but because he aint answering u dua.........u wanna say your not sure........
