Re: lost everything in sandy, someone with a big heart

My dear brother fronze please know with certainty that all is not lost, Allah is still your Creator Sustainer Provider Disposer of Affairs for you, this is merely a test from Allah to make you refelect and consider your position with Allah. These mere trinkets that we amass is this dunyaa [world] is nothing compared to what Allah has for us in the life to come. Allah says , laa yukalifu Allahu nafsan illa wus'ahaa" Allah does not burden a soul with something greater than it can bear" Your sustenance is with Allah, He shall sustain you and if you fear Him,He shall provide for you from where you least expected as Allah says, "Wa man yataqqillah Yaj'aalahu makhrajah wa yarzuqhu min haythu laa yahtasib" And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things. [65:2-3] So keep your faith up brother, make your reliance upon Allah. Raise your hands up to Allah, ask Him sincerely, increase in your prayers, increase in your duas when you are in prostration [sujood] Allah is aware of you and your needs so ask Him and He shall bestow things upon you abundantly. May Allah rectify all of your affairs ameen.

Pls register with FEMA right away also try to see in what way your local mosque can help - the one I frequent was constantly emailing about volunteers and help- I've been hit myself by the storm so I have no idea what kind of help they offer just that it's offered in shaa Allah.
As the br. Above said in many words nothing is lost it's all material things what matters is that you survived al7mdullilah. Everything can be replaced but life can't be!

I understand.. I think the minute you accept Islam you begin to face what many of us do which are constant trials but bear with good patience in shaa Allah.. May Allah swt ease all your affairs... everything can be replaced and the future is what we choose to make of it in shaa Allah.. It isn't good to be attached to worldly things nonetheless you should definitely file right away with FEMA I believe it was on the radio that the sooner you do it, the sooner they can get you help.

Re: lost everything in sandy, someone with a big heart

Firstly, I am sorry that you've lost everything in the storm. There are many places you can go to for help. I am not sure about New Jersey but, if you go to any organization they should be able to give you some resources available for the sandy victim. The dept of labor is helping out with people who've lost jobs, FEMA is out there as well. Please get in touch with them. If anyone is from New Jersey in this thread and knows about any resources that this individual can take adventage of please come forward and help. Also, I am sure the muslim organizations in NJ should be able to help as well. I dont live in NY therefore, I do not have much info.

Secondly, I would like to remind you that whatever happens it only happens for the best as Allah SWT is in control of all our affairs. Your situation right now may not make any sense to you and you may be thinking what good could possibly come out of this. But, it is no doubt a trial from Allah SWT and requires patience from his servants. know that the days of ease are waiting for you. Turn to Allah SWT for help and rely on him. The Sahabas faced many obstacles and faced harsh conditions compared to us, however, they were steadfast in their iman and firm in their belief. Those who love Allah SWT cannot pass this life without trials. that in itself is a source of cleansing and mercy. May Allah make it easy for you and give you sabr.

    Coping with Life!!!!

"We cannot contol life: we cannot control the changes in weather, health, time, our emotions, places, and condition. If we are not prepared for such changes; then when they occur, will cause us to punge in a state of despair, anxiety, emotional disablity and breakdown.

Today, We as Human beings, we forget reality....we forget the Truth! We forget this basic understanding of life that we are unable to control life and are not able to avoid the negatives that it brings our way. With All the advancement, Humans Today are in a state of denial and heedlessness; we can also call it a state of blindness and A lie." Ahmed Moait

The People Who Were Killed By Hurricane Sandy

    November 5, 2012 · 110 comments so far
[Updated: Monday, November 12, 12:48am ET]
My deepest gratitude to New York Magazine for publishing my memorial to the people who lost their lives to Hurricane Sandy. Their researchers have helped to fill in some of the blanks on previously unidentified victims. You can continue to find the latest information here, as I have been updating daily.
As the death toll rises, the empathy wanes. It becomes harder to feel the weight of each individual. And it breaks my heart.
My boyfriend reminded me of the Stalin quote: “One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic.” He’s right — the dead become numbers and their uniqueness is lost.
I haven’t found a single news source that has aggregated the names and causes of death of every person killed by the effects of Hurricane Sandy, so I decided to compile one myself. It has taken hours of research, as most articles fail to identify the names of the deceased, choosing instead to depersonalize their stories.
I’ve done my very best to account for everyone, but there are a lot gaps to fill. I will continue to update this post as new information is received. Please leave a comment if you have an addition or edit.
Thank you for joining me in helping to keep empathy alive. And to all who have lost a loved one, may their lives be a blessing. Rest in peace.

I am not doubting your story, but I think in order for folks to make the types of donations you're requesting, they'd need a little bit more transparency? We have a list of victims above from Staten Island and I think we simply need to know whom to make our funds to.
For me personally the loss of a parent or two would be more devastating than losing a house, people obviously react to grief differently..

    I second that, Skye.

Fronze, you have to understand that people are not likely to donate simply to a complete stranger.
Personally, I am more likely to donate to a general emergency fund which is attached to a reputable charity than to an individual whom I don't know.

As sister Skye says, transparency is important. So you may have to tell us a bit more about yourself. I hope you understand.

I also agree. I would really like to make a donation and perhaps even start a fund right on this forum, but it is difficult to simply start something like that without legitimate information. Many of us are willing to assist you, but we cannot do so blindly.
