    Re: Practising Islam

    Assalamu Alaykum brother,

Brother Hamza gave some good advice in the other thread, where he said to focus on the foundations of Islam including prayer. You should read about 'The Five Pillars of Islam' and also 'The Six Pillars of Eeman (Faith)'. These will help you learn about Islamic beliefs as well as some of the acts of worship in Islam. Here's a few links with relevant information:

    Re: Practising Islam

    Salaams,

The 5 pillars... in no particular order..

The syahada, said once and it is forever.
The hajj, once in a lifetime, if able.
Zakat, at least once a year
Fasting a month in a year
Solat, 5 times a day (the only compulsory daily obligation).

    So it is DOable.

Nice way to begin is to read the stories of the prophets.

    Peace

    Trouble with Islam

    Salam everyone,
I recently joined this forum for knowledge and useful information and to speak to other member or ask them for for help if I am stuck with a question or I am un clear of something related.

I also joined because as I am from a non muslim family and area. So therefor it is hard for me entering Islam as obtaining all the now ledge by myself is hard and to practicing being a good muslim. For instance I do not prayer the proper way as I haven't fully understood the right way but until then I give a prayer to the almighty lord and thank him for the hunger of my wiliness to understand Islam and put that information to use for the meantime everyday I try learn something new and expand on what I know.

But I know I'm not being a good muslim right now but I'm young and hope by the time I'm older I will have great knowledge and able to pass the message on in a way I can tell my family and they will understand and other people around me that are lost. Also i read prophet Muhammad (pluh) also didn't like to bore his listeners and gave them information a way and time where he didn't do so I then relised I shouldn't try overload my brain and rush as I may not absorb the information.

However I want to know where I should start learning from what are the fundamental things I should learn I have already bear witness there is only one god and worthy of worship and that is Allah and Muhammad peace be upon him is his messenger.

Basically just atone you had no idea of Islam and your family won't approve of it but it is down to you and all you have is this forum and Internet for the time being to get on to the right path. How would you so it? Where to look etc what information should I learn first? Average day of a good muslim ?

Thank you for your time reading and if any one reading this has experienced thos then please explain your story for inspiration and how you done it.

    Re: Practising Islam

I draw inspiration from the stories of the prophets in my free time. A book, retrievable to kill time. It gives you the timeless message from Allah swt. via the stories of the prophets.

There are plenty of places you can find in London to enroll in some classes. Remember that there are many teaching styles, the message should be beautiful.

You should read the 'Leaftlet on Islam' from Insaanah, our 'mod' here. It's at the bottom of her posts. I feel it will help you.

Apart from that, learn to pray at one of those classes, and slowly learn by heart Al Fatihah and 2-3 other short verses.
    It will serve you well.

    Peace
