    dealing with isolation

    Report bad ads?

    Salaam Aleikum!
I'm a 16 year old girl, and I've been looking into Islam for several months now. I've read about half the Qur'an and done a lot of research online, and have been praying for a couple of months now. I'm going to take my shahadah tomorrow, by myself. The issue is that I feel very isolated from the Muslim community. I can't go to mosque and don't even know any Muslims. I'm dreading Ramadan and Eid, when I'll have no one to celebrate or break fast with. I worry about losing my Imaan because I'll be surrounded entirely by people who do not believe in what I do. Any advice?

    Re: dealing with isolation

Welcome to the board, sweetie! Hey, I understand your concerns, but if you believe in God, you're going to have to be really brave. And also, when you take a shahadah, you automatically become a part of our large almost 2 billion Muslim family, sis, whether anyone knows or not, as Allah as willed it so.

If you can ideally meet any Muslim friends at school, that would be ideal. If you can't go to the mosque, that's fine as Muslim women are not obliged to do so, and it is not something with which you should be concerned as you won't always be 16 and can when you're in a position as an adult to attend mosque you can do so if you want.

Awww, sweetie, (hugs), listen to me - Eid or Shahru Ramadan won't be awful just because you won't be surrounded by Muslims; you're ultimately celebrating or breaking fast for the pleasure of God, and you'll already have pleased God when you did any of those things for the sake of God even without having Muslims surrounding you to encourage you to do so.

Honey, iman (faith) is a precious thing, and you know what Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) told us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) told us believers that to have an excellent opinion of Allah is part of excellent worship. So, sis, strive to have an excellent opinion of Allah SubhanAllahwaTaala (Glorious and Exalted is He), and if God guided you to this path, believe that God is not going to abandon you now when you'll be striving to do your best as His creation and subject to please Him.

Sis, I'm glad you came to IB to join us as you'll In-sha-Allah (God-willing) be celebrating Eid and Shahru Ramadan with us, and we'll be there to encourage you and support you as your sisters and brothers, friends, and servants in Islam. Can we count on you, sis, to count us as your virtual Muslim family and friends?

My advice is very simple, sis: My advice is, sis, simply believe that God is taking care of you and everything that concerns you and will be with you every step of your way, and trust that God will find circumstances to unfold in the best manner for you to keep your iman even if things ever (God-forbid) get hard. We're not all guaranteed that we'll have a perfect life, but we're guaranteed that God is with us and loves us when we surrender our hearts to Him for keeping.

Barakallahu feeki (may Allah bless you).

    Wishing you health and happiness,

    Re: dealing with isolation

    welcome sister
if it makes you feel any better there are loads of reverts in your situation, alhamdulilah you have found the truth alhamdulilah
i am also a revert , i embraced islam 2009 and there has been quite a few times where i let myself get isolated but alhamdulilah even then Allah has taken really good care of me. your giving up your old life for him so inshaallah you should rest easy knowing you'll get a better one in return
i recomend trying to find a masjid in your locality on google (i know you are unable to go but if you email them they might be able to pair you up with a sister who will come round and see you and maybe meet for coffee or something once a week
take advantage of the online community here too, if you have questions or need advice or even if you just want to get things off your chest feel free to make a thread here, inshaallah everyone will be happy to give support
embracing islam you become our sister, your struggle is our struggle and your fight is our fight, you dont have to do this alone
    hope this helps

    Re: dealing with isolation

there is a whatsapp group where some sisters chat about Islam and keep each other company. Would you be interested? One sister is a revert to Islam like yourself in this group.

Ok, get yourself up to 25 posts here in sha Allah, and then the Forum features will open up for you - and I can send you a PM (private message) and give you a contact number for a sister in sha Allah. She can then invite you to the group. You'll love it there - it's very active and its a small group, a new revert is in there also - she took her shahadah last week
