    Exclamation rodents as pets??

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
First I have to say I am married to a born muslim. We are both students both working, and living in a small one bedroom apartment so there is very little extra space.
Despite these facts, he decided he wants pets and he got 4 ! not just 1 but 4 rabbits to keep in the home in a large cage. He never cleans the cage and their is always a mess in there until he begs me to clean it. I feel its not my job because he knows I did not even want these pets. They are his only as far as I'm concerned. He needs to care for them or sell them to a good home but he will not do that and he will not step up and care for his pets properly. Its like he doesn't really care about them and I do not know why he even bought them.
My question is do I have a right to sell them to a good home since I do not have energy or time to care for all these rabbits which I was not even consulted on to purchase and keep in the home?
I feel it was very inconsiderate to get them and he will not listen to my concerns. I tried to tell him many many times that he must care for them and keep the cage clean...he doesn't and he lets them out of the cage even though they are not litter trained and they poop on the floor and he leaves it there!!
wth. I can't use half our home where he lives with the rabbits. I stay in the bedroom all the time with the door close so they do not disturb me with their smells and noises.
Why would he even consider all these rabbits? He hardly has time for one! and he expects me to care for his bad decision. Does he have a right in islam to decide to get a pet ein our home and force me to care for his pets even though they are obviously not necessary??

    Re: rodents as pets??

Ultimately the responsibility of caring for his pets falls upon him for making the choice to get them. It's not fair to you nor to the rabbits to make them live in unclean conditions and expect you to clean after them.

I'd say make it clear to him once again that as the owner of these animals, and the one who purchased them, it is his responsibility to provide the rabbits with quality living conditions and that if he remains negligent towards them you will be forced to find them someone who can give them the care they need.

    Re: rodents as pets??

Let me start by saying you cannot simply sell the rabbits without his permission. As his wife, you cannot simply decide to do that without his agreement. You should talk calmly with him about the issue of the smell. Try to ask him why he wanted rabbits. Why 4. I am sure you can reason with him and have a calm and open discussion. This issue is after all a relatively minor one. So it should be easy to fix!

As a note, just make sure all rabbits are the same gender. Rabbits bread FAST. SO if you have male and females, you will end up with 20 very quickly!!

You can not sell these rabbits without the permission of your husband, you can understand it and if you can not clean it, then tell your husband clearly that I will not make it easy. it is his own responsibility to keep them clean if they do not then he should sell them.
