Re: concerns about praying after obligatory prayer i mean sunnah, fard, witr, nafl ??

Wa alekum as Salam wa Rahmutal Allahi wa Barakatu

Congratulations that you started praying brother, I am really happy to know that =)
First I want to tell you something very important in case you don't know, prayers for men are to be offered in the mosque and not at home, if its hard for you at the start then first try to go for al Fajr and al aishah (there is a GREAT reward for praying them in congregation) and then gradually you will attend all in the mosque inshallah.
About the other prayers (nafl prayers), they are prayed just like the obligatory prayers, some of them are before, some after and some before and after the obligatory prayers.
Start little by little, don't start praying all at the beginning or satan will work with your self to lead you astray. But there are nafl prayers that you should make sure you don't miss. Let me give you a brief.
1 - 2 rakahs before Fajr (Don't miss!!!) - The Prophet pbuh says these two rakahs are better than the whole world and whats in it. If you go to the mosque and the praying already started then pray these 2 nafl rakahs after the fajr prayer.

    2- 4 before and 2 after zuhr
    3- 2 after maghrib ( dont miss)
4- 2 after al aishah and then pray 2 rakahs (shafh) and 1 rakah (witr) (don't miss)

That's only a brief, there is more, I advice you to see this website, it shows all and the rewards of each, but don't get too greedy and do all at the start^.

    Jazak Allah Khiir brother
May Allah help you and get you closer to Him inshallah, ameen

    You are welcome brother

Its alright when you ask any question you want, if there is anything else you want to know or if you need any help then just tell me my brother and I will do my best to help you inshallah. Don't forget to always ask Allah for forgiveness. Be sure that Allah Subhanah wa Taalah loves you, coz Allah loves those who repent

Re: concerns about praying after obligatory prayer i mean sunnah, fard, witr, nafl ??

    Adrian,

Us newbies to Islam do sometimes feel overwhelmed at first. The thing we need to understand is we are not expected to know everything. We are little babies new to the world when we first embrace Islam. We have to grow and learn how to walk before we can run a marathon in the Olympics.

Do not take on too much at one time. Do not go any faster than a pace you can keep up with. Ask questions, get comfortable with one aspect before you take on another. Begining with prayers is an excellent starting poing. Keep in mind for children who are born into Islam and learn from their parents it can take years. Yes, you will learn and move along faster than a child, but remember it will take time.

Above all never be afraid to ask questions, all of us not just us reverts know how overwhelming can can seem to be when we first enter Islam and that things that become daily habit, are still new to us.

Brother Vigno, gave the best advice so far.

Have sabr(Patience) and all will come into place at the rate you need.

Your enthusiasm is quite wonderful and is refreshing to all of us. Nearly every Muslim will be honored and pleased to try to answer your questions and we do understand you are now like an explorer learning about a wonderful way of life.

There is no separation among Muslims by category. You are as much Muslim as the oldest, most knowledgeable Muslim. You have an advantage over us as you are the closest to being free from sin, as when you said the Shahadah, all of your past sins were removed. Please make Du'a for us.
