    Report bad ads?

    Asalamu Alaykum

I've been wondering this for many years. Who is the Pharaoh who confronted Musa? When I was little, I asked my dad and he said that some Muslim scholars believe it was Ramses II, but now I know that others think he was Thutmose III. So who was the Pharaoh mentioned in the Quran?

Also, I remember reading in my 2nd grade religion textbook that the Pharaoh asked for forgiveness from Allah just before he drowned. Is that true, or is this a fake memory that I've had for many years?

    It is true.

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims." [10:90]

    Neither he had ankylosing spondylitis:

Confirming that he is the only candidate for the Pharaoh of the Exodus.

It was said that Jibreel alaihi salam believed that Allah subhaanahu wa taal awas so merciful tha he would forgive Pharaoh.

So he threw mud and water in his mouth.
