The ones who prefer the worldly life

    Report bad ads?

The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah , seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error.

    [Qur'aan 14:3]

    Ibn Kathiir writes:

ثم وصفهم بأنهم يستحبون الحياة الدنيا على الآخرة ، أي : يقدمونها ويؤثرونها عليها ، ويعملون للدنيا ونسوا الآخرة ، وتركوها وراء ظهورهم

Then He characterized them as loving this worldly life over the next life, meaning that they give it precedence over the life of the next world. They work for this world and forget the next world. And they leave it [i.e. the life of the next world] behind their backs.

ويحبون أن تكون سبيل الله عوجا مائلة عائلة وهي مستقيمة في نفسها ، لا يضرها من خالفها ولا من خذلها

And they love that the way of Allaah become twisted though it is straight in itself and is not affected by the one who opposes it or leaves it.

So are you saying we cannot enjoy this life?

Or do you mean we can enjoy it but don't put it above Islam?

If the enjoyment of this world makes you love this world more or prefer this world more, or prefer it more than Islam, etc. Then that isn't good.

we can enjoy a little. But excessive enjoyment isn't good for your Imaan. Read the OP again. May Allah SWT forgive me if I said any wrong. Ameen. And Allah SWT knows best.

May Allah SWT purify us from any negative quality and characteristic, and make us love the Hereafter more than this world, love death more than life, and make us love Him SWT more than anything. Ameen.

I couldn't disagree more. We can and should maximize our enjoyment of this life, and can do so without averting from the way of Allah. Since reverting, I've enjoyed life more than I ever did as an unbeliever chasing vices such as drinking, sex, and gambling. This is because Allah gives me something that those vices never could: inner peace. So is my (vast) increase in worldly enjoyment provided by Allah a sin in and of itself, simply because I'm enjoying worldly life greatly? Surely the hereafter is better, but Allah swt has provided me greatly from His bounty. And I feel no shame in it. Please show me the study which states that increased contentment leads to decreased faith. When you make a claim like that, you have to back it up.

I enjoy the world. I love the trees, the nature, the water, the animals... I like the fruits and veggies. Why can't I enjoy what Allah has created for ME to enjoy?

Re: The ones who prefer the worldly life

dont forget the wordly life is insignificant compared to the here after. while looking for a hadith i came across the below

"Sahl bin Sa’d narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If the world to Allah were equal to a mosquito’s wing, then He would not allow the disbeliever to have a sip of water from it.” (Hasan) [Chapters on Zuhd: Jami At-Tirmidhi]

This hadith means that whatever good things of the world Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has given to those who deny His attribute of Oneness, as well as the Prophethood of His beloved Messenger, He has given those things to them because the world, as a whole, is entirely insignificant and valueless before Him.

We should not be fooled by what the Kuffar or Munafiqeen have of the luxuries of this world, for they have no share of anything good in the Hereafter. Another hadith informs us that the world compared to the Hereafter is like a drop compared to an ocean. So what we should be concerned about is that we get the blessings and comforts and luxuries of the ocean, for that is what really counts."

If one can manage with praying 5 times a day, and doing his obligations in Deen, then I see no reason why one can't enjoy life. I meant it in the context of one preferring the worldly life. One has to love Allah SWT more and His messenger Muhammad SAW.

This dunya isn't Jahannam and it isn't Jannah but something in between.

We shouldn't treat this life as a hell, and should be grateful for the blessings Allah has given us and the beauty of this world and enjoy our time here

But we should not treat this world as a heaven and remember that there is more to life. We must be aware,
    and not get caught up in the life of this dunya and forget our mortality and fail to remember our final destination. Love for this dunya, will cause us to lose sight of worshipping Allah, and more often than not result in eroding our morality;
because this place is not Jannah and this place will not be all rest relaxation and pleasure.
(But nevertheless many a time you see people will try to make this their personal Jannah even at the cost of harming others and sinking into sins which degrade their own souls.)

We have to think of this life as a rest stop in a fork along the road.

We stop here, and maybe enjoy the trees and greenery and relax for a bit. We work during our time here to decide which destination we will ultimately head to. It is fine to enjoy this life, but it is not fine to think this is where we should stop.
    We want to go home.
So don't make this place your home, traveler.

Because we lose so much more that way.

And build your palaces in paradise.

“Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler along a path.”

    Don't worry bro.

Nothing wrong with enjoying life, but it becomes wrong when you prefer it over deen and the hereafter. Or forget prayers, etc. or forget Allah SWT, may Allah SWT protect us from that. Ameen.

It is a bitter truth that many Muslims are now busy in worldly life and keep themselves far away from religion. However, it is the basic duty of every Muslim to seek knowledge of Islam and implement on it.
