A scammer got control of my VM and told me to put some info. I put in fake info like a fake name and a fake credit card. Would this be a haram act or not?
He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him [59:23]
2. There are many genuine reasons to withhold one’s information while interacting on the internet. Therefore it is not only permissible rather in most cases recommended that one does not use his real name. Similarly, one should be very cautious about providing ones real information online. However, if the position with which one interacts online is such that people have to rely on the person’s integrity and standing in real life, then it would be more prudent to use one’s real name. http://islamqa.org/hanafi/askimam/6041
