    Re: Purification of soul

    As-Salaam alaikum,
To our Sister, further to what she requests in the above post, I wish to advise that she considers the counsel of Imam Nawawi, may Allah be Merciful to him, in his al-Maqaasid... to the effect that whoever desires to reach Allah Ta'ala should:--

..."repent from all things unlawful or offensive; seek sacred knowledge in accordance with one's
need, maintaining ritual purity; performing the obligatory prayers in the first of their time and
    in congregation; including the Sunnah prayers that correspond to each of the obligatory prayers;
adhering to the 8 raka'ats of the mid-morning prayer (Duha) and the 6 raka'ats after the sunset
prayer and before the night prayer; performing the night prayers (tahajjud) after awaking from
one's sleep; fulfilling the witr prayer; fasting on Mondays and Thursdays and on the 3 days of
the full moon- ie the 13th, 14th and 15th of the lunar month- and also the days of the year in
which fasting is recommended; reciting the Qur'an with the heart's presence coupled with reflection
upon its meanings; frequently asking forgiveness of Allah (Istighfar); maintaining prayers and blessings
upon the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam; and finally, adhering to the meritorious invocations of
the morning and evening that have come to us from the Sunnah."

    Best Wishes.

    Re: Purification of soul

Download lectures onto your phone or an ipod and listen to them in your car. There are lots of good material out there, but they aren't the short 2 minute videos type you see on youtube.

Try performing voluntary fasts. As we start getting later into the year, the times for fasting won't be as harsh as the summer days, so this would be a good time to start working on it. Try fasting Mondays and Thursdays. If anything, start with just one day a week. These voluntary fasts have helped me a lot personally.

Last but not least, whatever you do, make sure to do it with the right intention.

    InshaAllah i will jazakAllah khair.

can u also tell me please

i have started with Azkaar daily though low in quantity.
I was glad But these days i have ONE thing in mind that disturbs me.

“Why i need to purify myself” why so rush? U can delay. I tell myself i need to purify as because Allah has asked me to and that i got hidayah now etc etc but then i get many other thoughts that.

how can i stop them? I get scared what if i leave this effort of purification and follow my nafs (God forbid)

I feel like i lose motivation and i feel like I don’t need to think abt it.

Can plz someone help me why is that happening. JazakAllah

    Re: Purification of soul

If you truly sit down and think about it, where will you end up by chasing your desires / the dunya? No where. You get something you want and end up wanting something else. Even if you feel you have everything you wanted, you still feel unsatisfied. Look at the fake lives of celebrities. In front of the camera, they put on a smile. They drive expensive cars and have big houses. Behind the scenes, they're drugging themselves and sometimes even killing themselves. It's really just a big rat race where the end result is the same for everyone. Ultimately, we all will die and the only thing we take with us is our deeds. Some people choose not to think about death or the afterlife because they get too comfortable chasing an endless desire. We're on this Earth for a short time (relatively speaking). Our time in the afterlife is, well, timeless. In the quote from Imam Nawawi above, that's basically everything you need to know in a nutshell. Separating yourself from the dunya, get away from all the noises and distractions, perform the daily prayers, follow the sunnah and so on.

The shaytaan never stops working. Purifying yourself will make it easier to resist the temptations and the whispers you get. Start with having the right intention. Instead of listening to music, listen to a lecture or don't listen to anything at all. Buy a book about hadith, about the prophets, or anything related to the deen and start substituting that for TV shows. I'm not saying to dump everything you have in the trash, but try taking steps to break away from things that take you away from remembering Allah. Think about the people you surround yourself with. Are they a good influence or bad? If bad, spend less time with them or try to explain to them what you're trying to do and maybe you will in turn influence them to change as well.
