Weeping of a beautiful rose

The weeping of a beautiful rose
Sheltering from carnage, covering her nose
Blood staining, almost distorting a shore
Disturbed bodies lying cold upon this floor

The wiping of a tear
The disturbing scent lingering too near
Tiny hands basking in soil
Ignoring all surroundings
Her fingers begin to coil
Rusting metal, she laid her head upon
For this rose's smile is permanently gone

What brings me here?
The rose does question
Ignoring her families bodies
Not merely one mention
Hesitation arises
There is nowhere left to go
Flesh surrounds her
Of nearly everyone she knows

Hungry and submerged in tears
Too much pain,
For this is an ache well beyond her years
Beyond her knowledge
Surpassing her understanding
More bodies are falling
No spaces left to comfort their landing

Is life the same over there?
Leaving her questioning and screaming
Searching for anyone who might care
Is a helping heart too difficult to find?
Is there a heaven for me to simply rest my mind?
Where people are good and life is real
Where people recognize I am just a child
And truly know how I feel

Ignoring our death does not mean we wont die
Thinking you cannot make a difference
Does not justify when you simply won't try
Do your children go to school and learn
While I am stuck here,
A child with wages to earn
Unable to walk my country's streets
Without worrying that I and death may meet?

How many guns have been touched by these eyes
Politicians covering up their countless lies
This is no war
Have you not seen our blood engulfing this floor?
This is a mass genocide
And half of the world is standing on the wrong side

Does my mother's blood shed for no purpose?
We are good people,
How can anyone think we deserve this?
I am losing shoulders to lean upon
When morning rises
Where will these lives have gone?
When night's current comes
Will I be awakened to the sound of guns?

My stomach is empty, I have not eaten for days
My home is in rubble
My country is burning,
Set to a blaze
I can no longer see the brightness of the sun
When darkness surrounds me
And there is nowhere left to run

A hostage on my own land
All I have left is this rock in my hand
A tank coming too near
A young child
How is it that I have lost all fear?
Perhaps I have become numb to all this destruction
As far as I can remember
I have watched my land's abduction

A 10 minute walk becomes 4 hours long
Where checkpoints are placed
Making their occupation ever more strong
This is my land, my home, my country
And yet their countless bullets won't ignore me

To them I am just a casualty
Another useless life
To them value does not apply to me
But if I was their child living this way
Surely the world would know
And for them,
People would not hesitate to pray
Maybe after my death the world might see
I have been the victim,
falsely accused as the enemy....
