    A Misarable Day...

    A miserable day

A miserable day is when you’ve woken up in the morning and fell back to sleep at night and yet, that whole day, you haven’t done one worthy act to benefit Islam. Not a word of remembrance, not a knowledge gained, not a kind word to those you love, not even a single salaam.

A miserable day is when you’ve made your parents angry, and then continued forward with your life as if nothing had happened. Nothing at all. Hey, it’s no big deal. It’s not such a big deal that they’ve raised you, fed you, and loved you. Hurting them doesn’t change anything because as the world turns, it has to revolve around you. Your feelings are more important than others.

A miserable day is when you’ve ignored your brother’s phone calls - not once but twice. You, Mr. X, are not in the mood to answer your phone calls. Certainly, your mood is what decides what you do and where you go. Appointments are not of any real concern to you because if you’re not in the mood, you’re not going to go and that’s that. Who is to talk to you?? You’re a free man! A life of utter liberty and lack of responsiblities.

A miserable day is when you’ve prayed your salawat but you can’t seem to recollect how and what you’ve prayed. Nothing about you has changed in the last 3 years of praying. Actually, you haven’t been praying for a long time but instead, it looks like you’ve just been kneeling, bowing, and prostrating. Hey, at least you prayed, right?

It’s a miserable day when you’ve went to work and were caught in the the plots of this dunya and the tricks of the Shaytan. How much it hurts to be involved in this dunya and to openly see your faith decrease infront of the masses. For seven or eight hours at work, you didn’t remember Allah, you were engrossed with wordly matter, gossiped a bit, laughed immoderately, and then you ended up driving home with absolutely nothing - perhaps just lots of regret. Soon afterwards, you started to reflect on what you’ve accomplished that day but suddenly, you chose to ignore your mistakes rather than repenting for them. The Shaytan had convinced you that you’re too far in; too far in the hole of sins. Hence, you’ve begun to do the same everyday, with the exact people, and the cycle of life keeps on moving. What a miserable day!

A miserable day is when you’ve not read a word of Qur’an. You courageously pass by it everytime you enter and leave your house, yet nothing changes. You always say that you’re going to read but by the time the day finishes, you haven’t - false innuendos.

A miserable day is when you’ve not given in charity. Moreover, you’ve forgotten all about the concept of giving. Money is not an option to be given because your excuse is a legitimate one (so you think): you don’t have enough money to give away. Interesting enough, that wasn’t the case when you bought your Toshiba computer, your car, your cds, your I-Pod, and plenty of other superficial materials. Is a dollar too much?

A miserable day is when you’ve not fasted and haven’t even attempted to. Fasting was prescribed for those who are really, really pious and not for you. You’re just trying to perservere without really putting much effort. Anway, life goes on, at least you’ve performed your prayers…Oh, we’re not even sure about that anymore.

A miserable day is when you’ve stopped caring about Islam and Jihad remains for the teenage ‘jihadis’. Some issues are not for the Muslim adults who are trying to make it in this world and find a comfortable living. Everything that goes around you, whether in society or what shows in the news, is apparently issues you are not responsible for. The Muslim nation is facing its most difficult times and yes, you rest comfortably in your abode and as far as you’re concerned, it’s all just a fitnah, which means, we shouldn’t think, feel, or act -we shouldn’t even blink. Everything is cool and it’ll pass away (then you lay back on your comfy sofa). Everyone look the other way.

A miserable day is when you’ve begun to go further slip away from Islam - now, it’s a shorter beard, a more colorful Islamic dress, a more moderate outlook on life and interaction, and you’ve become so forebearing of not being very Islaamic..

A miserable day is when you realize that time has run out and you’ve been seriously placed in a dark and solitary hole. There isn’t much you can do today except accept the fact that you are going to be accounted for all your miserable days.

The angel says: ‘Who is your Lord?’ ‘What is your religion?’ ‘Who is your Prophet?’

You respond fearfully: ‘Allah, Islam, and Mohammed.’

The angel says: ‘Are you sure?!!’

    You say: ‘I don’t know…’

Oh, how miserable it is when you face the trials of the grave and begin to question your answer!!

A person who lived his life for Allah, will know that there isn’t another answer except what he has lived upon and that is the word of Allah, the sunnah of the Prophet, , and the life of Islam

Yet, those who lived away from Allah, will alas, face doubts.

“And be not ye as those who forgot Allah, therefor He caused them to forget their souls. Such are the evil-doers.” [59:19]

What type of day are you having?
