Neither the Romans nor the Greeks could compete with the Muslims’ achievements. It is no wonder that many writers considered ophthalmology an Arab specialty. Historians considered Ali Ibn-Isa the greatest ophthalmologist of the Middle Ages ever, and believed that at-Tathkirah (The Reminder) was his best book.
