I am really praying that it wasn't a Muslim that did this. I hate to suspect but the car with the bomb in it was in front of Viacom, the owners of South Park.
Really, people, why would you wish death upon someone like that? And you know, This just gives us a bad image. The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam would not want us to make a big deal out of this. We've inflated the problem. Our responsibility is only to let them know POLITELY, RESPECTFULLY, MATURELY that we do not depict the Prophet in any manner. Or any Prophet, for that matter.
And FYI, the cartoon wasn't intended for disrespect. I mean, the same people also depict the Pope, the President, and so on so forth.
How will we ever prove ourselves as tolerant Muslims if we continue going about like this? This whole issue is so minor, so stupid and we make such a big deal out of it. There's no disrespect intended to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam. I was also disappointed in hearing of the situation but it's nothing to create havoc over.

It would be nice if all the bombs planted in Iraq would give a smoke warning in advance before simply taking everyone down to shreds instantly the way they do here in the U.S and also have that hilarious comedic timing as to coincide with hmmm Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to NY (today)..

These cartoons, south park, etc is all a big game in my opinion. They draw cartoons and give extremist muslims something to react to. Muslims react allowing them to uphold the ideology that all muslims are terrorists.
The only sensible things we should/can do is to ignore.
Don't add more fuel to the already lit fire.

Regarding that we ought to ignore this, I do not think a Muslim and someone who loves Prophet Muhammad pbuh can ignore this disrespect. If Umar (ra) could not ignore when a man disrespected Prophet MUhammad pbuh, are you claiming that we are more intelligent and have greater control over our emotions and anger than Umar (ra)?
Regarding ignoring this, it is a defeatist mentality of some Muslims who chose to live in the West or were born in the West. But Allhamdulillah, these are only some Muslims.
My friend contacted an Imam of a Masjid in Australia to get an opinion on what to do since his university does not allow him to take a 10 min break to pray Jumah. He replied back to my friend that "such extremist thoughts have no place in Australia and you should start looking at your job as a matter of worship. You ought to obey the laws of the land." That is a supposed IMAM of Muslims? The funny thing is that I always saw this friend of mine as relatively liberal than me! I see that Muslim countries bend over their backs to accommodate the Westerners and their hedonistic culture who live there (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain etc) ... where are their laws of the land? or have they sold their dignity?
