    Shirk?

    Report bad ads?

    Salaamu Alaikum.

Is it considered a form of shirk to have an evil eye charm for necklaces? What about an evil eye decoration for the home? Charms for necklaces that are Quran or say LailahaillAllah.. things like that?

    JazakAllah.

I would say yes. The evil eye is a symbol believed to ward off evil spirits, this is putting your faith in other than Allah.

Yes i believe so recently from our trip to Turkey i brought back lots of presents in the form of the blue eye, very popular in Turkey. Someone told me that it represents the eye of "Dajjal"..................

    JazakAllah Civilsed and Zahida.

I was thinking that it might be because you are kind of using the symbol to protect from the evil eye instead of relying on Allah alone, which is the correct thing to do.
    Thank you for your input..

What about charms with Quran and Allah on it? Any thoughts?

It again depends on your intention, Some use these as a form of protection this is wrong and yes also a form of shirk. Again as you have rightly said Allah alone (not symbol/items) can provide this. Also worth noting that wearing this when entering the toilet etc... would not be acceptable.

Hope that help and Allah knows best

    Re: Shirk?

    JazakAllah both of you.

Sister, thank you for the link. It was very helpful.

I did not even think of the toilet issue. I guess some people may wear the charms as just to look nice but I'm thinking it may just be better to avoid it inshallah.

    Thank you.

    Re: Shirk?

It is not from the sunnah. Even if someone wants the argue wether it is shirk or not, the least which can be said is that it is a bid'ah [innovation into the Deen]
