    Need advice.

    Report bad ads?

Asalam o alikum, recently I have been getting shirk thoughts and they get intensified when I pray or think about religion. I m exhausted as i m pregnant and my mind is not 100% due to lack of sleep etc. my worst fear was having these shirk thoughts, as i never wanted to have any doubts about islam ever. But now i m totally distressed due to these thoughts and when i cant seem to make my heart feel the power of imaan, i dont know what to do. I never want to go away from islam, but i need to strengthen my imaan. Also i think i have religious OCD. Like i have been having these thoughts continuously since almost a month now, totally exhausted. Also i m away from family and in a non muslim country.

    Need advice.

    Jazak Allah

What "shirk" thoughts are you getting? Its ok to have doubts and seek knowledge on things you do not understand. You should seek advise from learned scholars. IslamQA is good site if you are seeking answers and guidance on any doubts/questions: https://islamqa.info/en

In the meantime, Just keep reminding yourself the Truth...There is NO God except Allah and Prophet MUhammad saw is the last and final Messanger of Allah.
There is absolutely no need to think about worshiping anything/anyone else besides Allah with that conviction & belief.

Just think what is the point in worshiping weak, finite creation who have absolutely no power over anything?

Always remember, not a leaf falls without Allah's knowledge.

Please Read, Remember and reflect on the 99 names of Allah.

This is a really beautiful series on Names of Allah which1 I recommend reading...I used to read one article every week whenever I could in the past when it was written and shared by the knowledgable and wise author: http://www.virtualmosque.com/tag/names-of-allah/page/2/
It's very beautifully written and well explained for each Name of Allah from their Arabic roots and meaning. There is a lot of wisdom mashaAllah.

May Allah swt protect us all from all major sins, Ameen.

    I only worship Allah, alhumdulilah.

These thoughts annoy me when I pray and i constantly remind myself that its shaitan's whispers. I mostly get images of acursed prohibited things and i feel like running away.

    Alhamdulillah thats good.

Don't worry too much everyone gets distracted by shaitan when they pray. Try to learn the meaning of everything you recite in Arabic so that when you recite anything in prayer/dua/dhikr, you concentrate on the translation and meaning of what you are reciting. I find that concentrating on meaning of surahs with mind and heart helps with concentrating in salah.

Also, there are some articles online you can read about developing Khushoo’ in Salah. You sated something about "religious OCD"...don't think too much about one thing...its not end of the world if your salah/worship is not 100% perfect...Allah doesn't expect perfection from weak humans so don't worry, learn to let go and move on. Seek frequent forgivenes and make intentions to strive to become better every day. Don't worry too much & don't lose hope, indeed, Allah is Most Merciful, Most Forgiving.

We don't get punished for involuntary thoughts. The more you pay attention to them, the more they will annoy you. Try your best to simply ignore and if they do come to you, don't treat it as 'a big deal' since they are involuntary and not something your truly believe in your heart and Allah is merciful, he wouldn't punish us for something we don't have control over.

What you are experiencing is Waswas...for protection against it, you can recite "A'udhu billahi min ash-shaytaan-ir-rajeem", Surah Nas, Aytaul kursi. Found this advise regarding waswas from Islamic Scholar:

    Hope it helps inshaAllah.

My sister for you to have concern for your imaan shows you have imaan in the first place so know that these thoughts are merely irrational and do not affect the status of your imaan as long as they are restricted to thoughts and not action.

The following thread was created to tackle waswas and gives lots of advice and tips on how to tackle it:

    How to overcome Waswas

How to overcome Waswas (Shaythans whispers) in worship

Also sister make use of these blessed days and nights in asking of Allah to enable you to overcome these irrational thoughts.

Please let us know if you require anything else.

    Re: Need advice.

that is satanic-sheitan-whisperings,read surah ikhlas, falaq and naas every morning and afternoon and also aytul kursi, that is what works for me.

these thoughts are harmless as long as you dont utter them.we cant control them.

may allah bless you, forgive all your sins, shower you with his mercy and blessings and forgive all muslims, dead or alive on the day of judgment.

    Re: Need advice.

    Sister

'' Some of the Sahaabah complained about the waswaas that was bothering them. Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said to him, ‘We find in ourselves thoughts that are too terrible to speak of.’ He said, ‘Are you really having such thoughts?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘That is a clear sign of faith.’” (Narrated by Muslim). (Narrated by Muslim, 132 from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah).

Al-Nawawi said in his commentary on this hadeeth (narration): “The Prophet’s words, ‘That is a clear sign of faith’ means, the factthat think of this waswaas as something terrible is a clear sign of faith, for if you dare not utter it and you are so afraid of it and of speaking of it, let alone believing it, this is the sign of one who has achieved perfect faith and who is free of doubt.” And it was said that what it means is that the Shaytaan only whispers to those whom he despairs of tempting, because he is unable to tempt them. As for the kaafir (non-Muslim), he can approach him in any manner he wants and is not restricted to waswaas, rather he can play with him however he wants. Based on this, what the hadeeth means is that the cause of waswaas is pure faith, or that waswaas is a sign of pure faith.

See also question no. 12315 The fact that you hate that and your heart recoils from it is a clear sign of faith. Waswaas happens to everyone who turns to Allaah by reciting dhikr etc. It is inevitable, but you have to be steadfast and patient, and persevere with your dhikr and prayer, and not give up, because in this way you will ward off the plot of the Shaytaan. “Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaytaan” [al-Nisa’ 4:76 – interpretation of the meaning]. Every time a person wants to turn to Allaah, waswaas brings other matters to mind. The Shaytaan is like a bandit: every time a person wants to move towards Allaah, he wants to block the way.

Hence when it was said to one of the salaf that the Jews and Christians say, “We do not experience waswaas,” he said, “They are speaking the truth, for what would the Shaytaan do with a house in ruins?”(From Fataawa Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah, 22/608).

The remedy: 1 – If you feel that you are being affected by this waswaas, say, “Aamantu Billaahi wa Rasoolihi (I believe in Allaah and His Messenger).” It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Shaytaan comes to one of you and says, ‘Who created you?’ And he says ‘Allaah.’ Then the Shaytaan says, ‘Who created Allaah?’ If that happens to any one of you, let him say, Aamantu Billaahi wa Rusulihi (I believe in Allaah and His Messenger). Then that will go away from him.”(Narrated by Ahmad, 25671; classed as hasan (sound)by al-Albaani in al-Saheehah, 116).

2 – Try to stop thinking about that as much as possible, and keep busy with things that will distract you from it. Finally we advise you to keep on turning to Allaah in all situations, and to ask Him for help, and to beseech Him, and to ask Him to make you steadfast until death, and to cause you to die doing righteous deeds… And Allaah knows best.http://http://islamqa.info/en/25778
