20 Sunnah’s to do on Eid

    1. To awaken earlier than usual

    2. To brush the teeth with Miswaak

    3. To have a bath (Ghusl)

    4. To be dressed in one's best clothes (Doesn’t necessarily have to be new)

    5. To be dressed modestly in an Islamic manner.

Note: Care should be taken that we do not incur debts or transgress the limits of modesty regarding the clothes we purchase and wear on Eid day as is seen in many Muslim communities of today. Many of our brothers are seen with unsuitable haircuts and inappropriate clothing and many of sisters are seen dressed provocatively attracting unwanted attention and the gaze of strange men upon them. What would happen if we were to die in such a state? Therefore we should adopt modesty in every aspect of our lives particularly the way in which we dress.

    6. To use Attar (Perfume)

    7. To perform the Eid prayer at the Eidgah (An open ground)

    8. To avoid eating before Eid-ul-Adha prayer and to eat an odd number of dates or anything sweet before Eid ul Fitr prayer.

    9. To go to the place of Eid prayer early

    10. To walk to the place of Eid prayer (If it is within walking distance because every step is reward)

    11. To read the “Takbeerat” on the way to Eid-ul-Adha prayer loudly and on the way to Eid-ul-Fitr prayer silently:

    allahuak 1 - 20 Sunnah’s to do on Eid

“Allaahu Akbar Allaahu Akbar Laa ilaaha illallaahu Wallaahu Akbar walillaahil hamd”

(Allah is the greatest; Allah is the greatest; there is no god but Allah; Allah is the greatest; Allah is the greatest; and to Allah belongs all praise.).

    12. To use different routes to and from the place of Eid prayer

    13. To frequently recite the takbeer's throughout (Loudly for Eid Ul Adha and softly for Eid ul Fitr)

    14. To pray the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer later and the Eid-ul-Adha earlier.

    15. To pray the two rak’ahs Waajib Salaatul Eidain without any Adhaan (call to prayer) or Iqaamah

    16. It is Mukruh (disliked) to pray Nafil (voluntary) prayers before or after the Eid prayer but Sunnah to pray two rak’ahs Nafil prayer upon reaching home.

    17. To give the Sadaqatul fitr (Compulsory charity) before praying the Eid prayer.

    18. The khutba (Arabic sermon) of both Eids are Sunnah but to listen to them is Wajib (Compulsory). It is totally prohibited (Haraam) to walk around, talk or even read Salaah whilst the khutba is in progress.

    19. To shake hands and hug one another on happy occasions like Eid is Mubaah (permissible). The general principle of a Mubaah act is not to regard the act as compulsory so one should not regard the meeting on the day of Eid as compulsory and an inseparable part of the occasion.

    20. To greet one another with the following greeting:

Jabyr ibn Nufayr (Ra) said: 'When the companions of Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) met on the day of Eid, they would say to each other:

    'Taqabal-Allahu minna wa mink

(May Allah accept from us and you)." [Al Mahamiliyyat; hasan isnad; see Fath ul Bari 2:446]

Re: 20 Sunnah’s to do on Eid

    Night of ’Eidul Adha

The nights of both ’Eid are described in the Hadith as amongst the great and sacred nights in the Muslim calendar.

To remain awake on the nights of ’Eid and perform ’ibãdah is a source of great virtue and reward.

    1. Aboo Umarah radhiallahu anhu related that ’Aaishah Radiyallaahu Anha reports that Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “Whosoever stays awake and performs ’Ibadah (worship) on the nights of the two ’Eid, with hope for abundant reward (from Allah), his heart will not die on the day (i.e. Qiyãmah) when all hearts will be dead.” (Targheeb)

    2. Mu’ãz Ibne Jabal radhiallahu anhu relates that Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “Jannah is Wajib (incumbent) for those who stay awake with the intention of making ’Ibadah on the following nights: 8th, 9th and 10th of Zul Hijjah, the night of ’Eidul Fitr and the night of the 15th of Sha’bãn.” (Targheeb)

Re: 20 Sunnah’s to do on Eid

    Important Reminder:

It is compulsory (Wajib) to recite Takbeer Tashreeq after every Fard (Obligatory) prayer from Fajr today Fri 3rd Oct until Asr on Mon 6th Oct.

    Takbeer Tashreeq:

Allahu Akbar Allaahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illa-llaahu Wallaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar walillaahil hamd

    The story behind this is:

When Ibrahim (AS) began moving the knife on his beloved son, Ismaaeel (AS), the angels sent by Allah with a ram from Jannah exclaimed, 'Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest). Ibraahim (AS) heard the voice of the angels and replied, 'Laa ilaaha illa-llaahu Wallaahu Akbar' (There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest). His son Ismaaeel (AS) heard this conversation and understood that Allah had relieved him from this great trial, thus he replied, 'Allaahu Akbar Walillaahil hamd' (Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise) (Ibid).

It is wajib (compulsory) to say it once and Sunnah to say it three times.

As far as I know it is the same for the Shafi'i fiqh:

    https://archive.org/stream/ElementsO...0Fiqh_djvu.txt

The Hanbali Fiqh declares the Takbeer E Tashreeq to begin on the Fajr of the 10th.

And Allah knows best in all matters

Adding the "hu" afterwards is perfectly correct, but I thought you have to add the "ayrun", don't you?

I do not know arabic. I used to say jazakallah khair since i thought it was ok, khairun was a multiple of khair or plural i thought. better to say as the sheik says and good he reminded a hadith i had heard before but i forgot to implement.

Re: 20 Sunnah’s to do on Eid

    Takbirat of Tashriq

    The Takbirat of Tashriq are:

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Lailaha illallahu wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walil lahil hamd

(Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest and all praises are for Allah only).

It is wajib for every adult Muslim to recite these Takbirat of Tashriq audibly once after every fard salah.

Takbirat of Tashriq will be read from the Fajr of 9th Dhul-Hijjah to the Asr of 13th Dhul-Hijjah a total of 23 salah.

*People celebrating Eid on Sunday should recite takbeerats from the Fajar of Saturday 10 August till the Asar of Wednesday 14th August.*

*People celebrating Eid on Monday should recite takbeerats from the Fajar of Sunday 11 August till the Asar of Thursday 15th August.*

    • Women should not say it loudly but softly.

    • Takbir should be recited immediately after concluding the fard prayer.

    • If you haven't donated your Qurbani donations you can still do so by visiting:
