Am I exempt from Eid prayer due to mental illness?

I was just wondering if I was exempt from the obligation of Eid prayer, because my mother and my brother are going to the Turkish cultural center for eid prayer, and so she doesn't have the time to drop me off at another masjid (I don't have a driver's license) and although I could have this one imam/mentor of mine drive me, he'll be very busy on that day and I don't want to burden him. the reason I ask if I am exempt is because whenever I go to the Turkish cultural center, I get panic attacks/anxiety attacks, due to social phobia......and because of all the enemies I've made over there and my bad reputation since I used to try to date the girls and talk to the kids......I believe the same would happen at any other masajid due to social phobia and crowding.....

Re: Am I exempt from Eid prayer due to mental illness?

    Assalamu Alaikum

If you can control yourself in regards to not making mischief such as talking to the girls and kids, then go there and pray. You should not feel anxiety because your purpose there is solely to worship Allah so that's where you should pinpoint your focus. Since you are aware of your wrongful actions you should take the steps to minimize them such as by lowering your gaze. However, if you are unable to control yourself/behavior due to mental illness and are a distraction to the worshippers there and it will cause you more harm than good being there, then inshallah you are excused. Wa Allahu A'laam.

I used to be crippled by agoraphobia and social anxiety, panic attacks and all... If you can pray at home do so but see your doc. I was prescribed anti anxiety drugs/ anti depressants and they saved my life. You won't only feel more confident - even after you take them. You'll think clearer too.

Don't put undo stress on yourself. Go when you feel ready and comfortable. Take time to relax now and pray at home in your private place and make dua for good health. Time heals everything and soon people will forget about your bad reputation there and find someone else to gossip about, people are like that everywhere.

Health & fear are two reasons where we are allowed to pray alone without Jamat is what i know in fard salah. But Subuh & Isha fard are the two most stressed ( but all 5 times are stressed to be prayed with jamat ) since they are equivalent to worshipping all night . Eid prayer or jumma prayer without jamat is not an eid or jumma prayer at all, it has to be done in congregation You should fear for None except Allah & do your worship only for Allah's sake .

If others abuse you for your past sins which you already stopped then a warning hadith is here to them which said

Sayyidina Mu’az ibn Jabal (RA) reproted that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, "If anyone shames his brother for a sin then he will not die till he does the same thing.” Ahmad said, "(It means) the sin for which he has repented.” (TIRMIDHI)

So we have to careful while admonishing people or if our blunt handling makes that person to turn back to his old sins due to frustration or adamant then those who tempted to do that by their unwise handling will also bear equally the sins out of it

Eid salah can't be prayed at home like other salah.
