    Takbir in public places

    Report bad ads?

One of the good deeds that we are recommended to do during the first ten days of Dhil Hijjah is Takbir Mutlaq, that is to say Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La-ilaha illa Allahu, wAllahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil hamd at all times and everywhere.

It is reported about Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah that the two of them used to go out to the market place during the ten days (of Dhu'l-Hijjah) saying Allahu Akbar, causing the people also to say it. [Al-Bukhari]

In Saudi Arabi, UAE and some other Muslim countries, they play Takbir recordings or appoint someone to say it in microphone in public places such as malls, airports etc. Below are some of the videos.

    Re: Takbir in public places

I'm certainly not against this but, it just seems weird to hear people doing this in such lavish shopping centers where people are walking around shopping for gucci products and the like.

Got to remember that for some people - shopping at Gucci is not much more lavish than others going to buy a treat from any other high street store - Sulaiman the wise, and Qaaroon the fool - both mentioned in the Quran give an idea of how things can be for some.

    The main thing is this:

    35. Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

    36. (Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honour; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again),-

    37. By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new),-

    38. That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure.

From Quran, Chapter 24 - Yusuf Ali interpretation.
