More and more of Africa's farmland is being bought up by private companies and countries. But should this trend be welcomed as much-needed foreign investment or is it a new form of colonialism? Africa has, history has shown, been susceptible to rape by people from all backgrounds, from Arabs to Europeans, but this is just plain wrong in today's world. These companies are provoking civil wars, buying resources from militant rebels and therefore funding their operations, and using the equivalent of slave labour. Africa needs to show the world what it is and what it is capable of overcoming- but with money obsessed people raping it, how can the Africans do just that?
Africa needs investment and trade, people wonder why africa is so behind in development yet they don't take into account that people barely trade or invest in africa it's always aid which in the long run keeps people dependent. Africa is a continent rich in resources it should not be dependent on aid. As an African I say if these foreign companies most likely china are providing this than good for them. The whole reason this is becoming such a big issue is that the west did not think of it first.
