On February 2, 2024, the White House released a press statement in response to the killing of three American soldiers in Jordan by a drone attack. Not sure why there are US soldiers in Jordan, but the US has killed plenty of people using drones. Doesn’t feel nice to be on the receiving end, right?

Regardless, the US vowed revenge. In its press statement it was stated loud and clear:

“The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond.”

Wait, what?

What about the US citizens stuck in Gaza? Are they not American? What about Al Jazeera’s Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh who was assassinated in the West Bank by the IDF? And what about American-born Tawfiq Ajaq who was murdered by Israelis in the West Bank while visiting there, just weeks before the aforementioned press statement?

Does anyone else see the irony here? The US launched dozens of strikes against Iraq and Syria in response to the drone attack, yet Israel gets a free pass for killing Americans of Palestinian descent? Not just a free pass, but diplomatic cover and funding for more weapons to kill even more people.

What a messed-up world we live in…
