Eight years since the fall of Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi, the nation is once again at risk of an all-out war. Libya's rival forces are intensifying their fight to take control of Tripoli.

Troops loyal to the UN backed government in the capital are trying to stop the advance of the warlord Khalifa Haftar, who began his offensive two weeks ago. At least 120 people have been killed. The UN says the fighting is undermining international peace efforts. But behind the scenes, some Western and regional countries have been giving support to Haftar. So, can these nations with competing interests work together to stop the violence?

We are told that Libya is at the mercy of hundreds of militias, and that's true. But one man, Khalifa Haftar, may be the biggest problem.

    On the ground.

    Quelle surprise!

Russia is among the countries that are backing General Haftar. Apart from political support, which has become clear with the General’s multiple visits to Moscow and his contacts with Russian officials, the Kremlin is offering more practical forms of assistance. Russia has delivered food supplies, has printed money to be used in the territories he controls, and finally has provided limited military support.

This mainly came in the form of arms supplies and of Russian private military companies operating in Libya, whose ties with the Kremlin are virtually certain. But what does the Kremlin really want in North Africa?

Rulers of the MENA have created a new cult called 'Madkhalism' to enforce their will, playing a big role in Libya atm.
