DesertPeace - Piss on racism! That's essentially what the students at Emory University had to say to David Horowitz and his 'message' of Islamo-Fascism.

His message is not wanted nor are his attempts to spread hatred using the university as a tool for this.

In which case if everybody just stayed at home, and he was lecturing to an empty theater, he would soon stop doing it.

I sympathise with the students feelings, of course, but nonetheless it is rather ironic that turning up just to shout someone down is a pretty 'fascist' tactic itself.

I take common news from normal places, except those that are known to be liars (fox, abc, cbs, etc).

I take political news from non-US media unless its someone like www.counterpunch.com

and i take religious info from religious sites that are known to be authentic and reliable and not some google site like some ignorant nobody here keeps ranting.

and as for youtube, it is nothing more than video tapes info from horse's mouth. I rather go there and watch the video uploaded there by someone from pakistan and listen to actual words and testimony of the women of lal masjid (or whoever) then be some dummy and listen to whatever crap they feed you in your media and come parroting it here making a fool of yourself.

i do not know who David Horowitz is... and i am usually weary to pass judgment on people who criticize religions or ideas since it is important to do so and it does not necessarily matter their motivations, BUT that said i think the term islamofascism is patently offensive... i think any reasonable person could see why muslims would be offended. and academic discussions should be conducted in civilized and polite manners, with careful attention paid to consideration toward the person with whom you are discussing a given topic. there is no need for civilized intelligent people to alienate each other.

David Horowitz is mainly about one thing, and that is showing the hypocrisy of the left-wing college campus. People who claim to be all about free speech, but do everything they can to silence opinions that they don't agree with. He has the right to state his opinion not spread hatred and bigotry. Nor does he have the right to force others to listen to him, these students exercised their rights and showed he's not wanted on their campus to spread his hatred and propaganda.

How does Horowitz "force" anyone to listen to him? He gives lectures that you choose to attend. These people choose to attend to disrupt the lecture. That is abridging free-speech. Horowitz's opinions are no different than those you post on this forum daily. They just happen to be the opposite side of the coin.

And you failed to understand that not all lectures are invited. some are invited and some request for an audience. So unless you can show he was invited, i'd like to think he extended his request to be there. Which seems more logical because he seems to be going from one univ to another spewing his hatred, and i doubt he's getting all those invitations across the usa. Unless you think america is full of bigots like him and are giving him invitations left and right?
