Is the fard prayer read differently from the sunnah?

I was told that there is no difference between sunnah and fard prayer when reading 2 rakat. But when reading 4 rakat for the sunnah we read a surah after each rakat whereas for fard we only do this for the first two?

    Thanks

Yes thats right. Also we must put much more effort and concentration into our fard prayers as they are the most important prayers of all and will be judged and scrutinized the most.

If our fard prayers are lacking then our Sunnah and Nawafil prayers will be used to fill in the gaps.

That is why we must always try to pray all of our Sunnahs and Nawafil prayers.

If you need anymore help with anything at all then please do not hesitate to ask.

Nawafil prayers can fill in any defiencies in our fard Salaah and if we get into the habit of praying many Nawafil prayers and accumulate enough in our lifetime then may come to our aid when we need it most such as in the grave and the hereafter aswell as enabling us to get closer to Allah and accompany Rasulallah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallim) in Jannah.

The more prostrations we can do in our prayers throughout our lifetime, the safer and better position we will be in, in the hereafter.

And Allah knows best in all matters

"Nawafil" cannot "compensate" for "mandatory" prayers, which are pillars of Islam. The nawafil bring you extra rewards, but only if you do the mandatory ones.
I heard a sheikh that imam Ja'far b. Mohammad al-Sadiq said "Perfect your Namaaz with nawafil."
