So, I recently realized I may have been doing my dua incorrectly. I just read that the dua that you make before the tasleem is supposed to be from the Quran and Sunnah and I was just making my own dua, while my own personal dua should have been made after the tasleem. Does what I have done invalidate my salah? Can someone confirm what I read is true and if so, correct me in the act of dua and recommend a few short dua that I should do before tasleem?
I was confused about this as well. So what i read is it doesnt invalidate your prayer bcuz 1.you didnt know about this. 2. There is difference of opinion in this matter.
What i think is we should leave dua altogether in fardh salah to be on the safe side. Because if we make dua in our own language, it may happen that its wrong bcuz some scholars said so. And if we make our personal dua in arabic(which are not in sunnah), it may be wrong as well. So its better to leave the dua for the end. Once we finish the prayer, we can make dua cuz its in hadith that dua after fardh salah is accepted. But we dont have to consider it compulsory to make dua after salah by raising or it will become bidah. This is the conclusion i got onto. Otherwise, there is difference of opinion in this matter so in sha Allah, keep seeking forgiveness of Allah if we did wrong in this.
