You need a Barclays current account to have a debit card with us.
If you're planning to travel, it's best to let us know in advance to help avoid difficulties with using your card and to protect you from fraud. Using debit cards abroad:
You can use your cards worldwide in millions of shops and other outlets wherever you see the VISA or Electron signs.
Withdraw up to £300 per day in local currency with your Connect card from cash machines displaying the VISA sign. Your Electron card is accepted at machines with the PLUS sign.
Cash machines work in the same way as they do at home and will work in English when you put your card in.
Pay no transaction charges* when you use your debit card at cash machines belonging to our Global Alliance.
* Purchases and cash withdrawals overseas are converted into sterling at the exchange rate based on market or government set rates on the date the amount is debited to your account. A 2.75% charge for Barclays handling costs and any VISA processing fees is included in the sterling conversion shown on your statement and applies to all foreign transactions. There is an additional 2% transaction charge (min £1.50 max £4.50) if you withdraw cash overseas via a cash machine or in a bank, except Barclays cash machines or those within the Global Alliance. If you use a cash machine outside the Global Alliance, you may also incur an additional service charge on top. There is a 2% transaction charge (min £1.50 max £4.50) if you use your card in the UK to obtain sterling anywhere other than a cash machine or Barclays branch, and currency or travellers’ cheques anywhere other than a Barclays branch or Barclays website or via Barclays Travel Line.

anonymous the best thing for you to do is to get a nationwide debit card as they dnot charge for any transactions abroad.make sure you contact your bank before travel as all other banks have charged on using the card abroad.Have a safe trip and donot forget your prayers.
