Salam brothers and sisters, i am of 15 years olds, i perform the salah everyday, i fast on ramadan, and nshallah next year i will perform the hajj.
But one question concerns me: Is Istimna' (Masturbation) haram completely??
Because everyday when i get from school, i perform istimna' in order too cool off from stress then immediatly perform the ghusl. but today, while exploring my religion, i found out that many hadiths say that masturbation is haram!. I am so used to it and i have stopped several days ago but i am in too much pressure. I want to know: am i allowed to keep on doing it and hope that Allah Taala forgives me?
I have read that in a very rare case masturbation is allowed: When a person is afraid of performing adultery, or if the person is unable to marry. Since i am 15, i am unable to marry. So now am i allowed to?
Sorry for asking such a trivial question, i am still learning so much about Islam
'Those who guard their sexual organs except with their spouses or those whom their right hands possess, for (with regard to them) they are without blame. But those who crave something beyond that are transgressors.' (Al-Mu'minoon:5-7)
The masturbator is one of those who ‘crave something beyond that.’
It has been reported by Abu Hurrairah (R.A) that Allah's Messenger (P.B.U.H) said : ''A group of people will be gathered on the Day of Judgement with hands pregnant due to practising masturbation''. (Al-Hakim)
Abu Hurrairah (R.A) also reported that Allah's Messenger (P.B.U.H) said Seven have been cursed by Allah (SWT) and he will not look at them on the Day of Judgement. It will be said to them enter the Hell with others: the two who commits homosexuality, the one who has sexual intercourse with an animal, the one who marries the daughter and her mother, the one who practises masturbation, till they repent sincerely'' (Al-Hakim)
Muslim youth who are unable to marry, namely, that he seeks help through frequent fasting, for fasting nurtures will-power, teaches control of desires, and strengthens the fear of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said, 'O youth, whoever of you is able to marry, let him marry, for it spares one looking at what one should not, or lapsing in adultery. And if he cannot marry, let him observe fasting, for it is a shield against evil.' (Reported by Muslim.)"
Thus, we advise not to stay alone and then you should make use of the following
1- Observing fasting, because it bolsters one's faith, preserves chastity, and protects one from evil thoughts.
2- Observing moderation in eating and drinking in order to avoid stimulating your desire.
3- Keeping away from anything that is sexually stimulating, such as pornographic pictures, erotic films and love songs.
4- Choosing good and righteous friends.
5- Keeping yourself busy in worship, Reading Quran and spiritual acts.
6- Interacting with activities of the society in such a way that it keeps you away from thinking about sex.
7- Avoiding gatherings and places that bring men and women physically close to each other.
8- Trying to admire natural things such as flowers and beautiful scenery, which do not stimulate one sexually, instead of admiring girls and women.
Some of the harmful effects of Masturbation are mentioned here in this video

Asalaamu Alaikum, jazakallah khayr for sharing your issues with us as it is clear that you are worried about angering Allah an it is a sign of imaan to be fearful of Allah's anger and displeasure at our sins.
Masterbation is a shameful act which only causes harm for a person mentally and physically for there is no good in it. It is forbidden and one should take all measures to keep away form this vile act. However there is a difference of opinion where some scholars say that it is forbidden full stop and others say that if one is at the point where one cannot control themselves and they fear that they may fornicate or committ adultery then they should do "the lesser of two evils" which is masterbation. This does not mean that it is permissable but just means that it is better to do the lesser sin if one fears that one will fall into the bigger sin which is fornication and adultery. But it is still a big sin and a punishable so one should take all measures to eradicate this vile act from ones life. You are still young so you should take all measures necessery to stop this hateful act immediatley.
You will find a lot of very useful tips of how to overcome this vile act in the following link:
