Salamualaikum,

well, im thinkin that.... to be an educated individual is to be updated with the world, the news, as well as with science/math. BUT, this is all just information. when i think of information, i think of random facts that help you get through the day. but, when i think of knowledge, i think of the Qur'an and Sunnah. although knowledge and wisdom are very different, Allah has given us a lot of mercy by giving us the Qur'an and Sunnah (knowledge), but to reflect on this knowledge, understand this knowledge, and to better ourselves from this knowledge is wisdom. maybe??? wAllahualam.

Assalamu Alaikum

What is the difference between knowledge and information?
the way it think about it is information is a message given, knowledge is that message/information percieved. Information can be a message rejected and forgotten quickly, or it can be accepted and then forgotten quickly because your not indepth so much with it.

Knowledge is everlasting in your brain. you might forget it but it can easily be remembered. while with information once its forgotten its forgotten, it has become corrupted if u try to remember it because its not as pure as knowledge.

e.g.
someone shows you how to tie your shoes-information
learning to tie your shoes-information accepted, not yet knowledge
giving up on tying your shoes-information rejected
tying your shoes on your own-knowledge

What does it mean to be an educated indvidual?
One who has knowledge that can be passed down as information on to others and used in mentally challenging problems.

Salam ...

Q: What is the difference between knowledge and information?

A: There's a hadith that mention if a person who perform his fardh prayer with jamaah, Allah will reward this person with 27 hasanah (pls correct me if i'm wrong). The diff between a knowledgable person and those with info ... a knowledgable person will go and perform his fardh prayer with jamaah becoz of his confidence that Allah will reward him ... but information, well ... is just an info.

I was just guessing bro ... ;D

Information: data, comprehensible or not, doesn't matter

Education: Information that makes sense and understood.

Example:

the first pass effect in human beings will be a determining factor in formulating the route of administration of choice of Sumatriptan

[what does that mean?]

Education:

The first pillar of Islam is shahadah. [information makes sense, understood and awaiting execution]

Educated individual: The adjective educated here seems to imply complete understanding and gathering of all information necessary in a particular field.

If I may go astray a little bit, I'll define educated individual as someone who is aware of what he knows and applies it accordingly and teaches it. He is also aware about things that he doesn't know and he learns it. He's not the one who doesn't know that he knows (his information's not understood) and who doesn't know that he doesn't know. :)

Have I succeeded in confusing you guys yet? :okay:

Assalamu'Alaykum

Knowledge is probably the understanding and the practical applications of Information.

Educated individual; is relative, bachelors Vs Masters etc...thats educated I think however, knowledgable is something different you can be educated but a complete dofus you can be smart, knowledgable and have never attended even school educated.

You can be smart yet not educated educated yet not smart you can be knowledgable and be informed while educatedyou can also be informed while not educated but I doubt you can be knowledgable without being educated.
