Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh,

Is it wrong for me to listen to the Qura'an in a room where there a TV is on? Even if my attention is on listening to the Qura'an rather than the TV?

JazakAllah Khayr in advance

WaAlaykumus Salaam

P.S I thought this would be the best section for this thread, please can a Mod move it if its wrong :-[ :hiding:JazakAllah

I think there would be some variables here and you would need to look at all of the options and see what is best. Can you go into another room? What is your reason for having the TV on? What are the real choices you have? All of those should be addressed.

Off hand I would say that if you have the option of not having the TV on, it is highly disrespectful to have it on while reading the Qur'an.

:w: I agree, when learning my 'ashaar I make sure that I'm in a room that's completely quiet, with no distractions.

I'd suggest you look for a quiet room and read the Quraan there inshaa Allaah.

As Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

If you are reading or listen the Holy Quran while TV is on, then it would be lots of distractions and the cursed of Shaytaan will be there as well. Also it will be difficult to memory of the Holy Quran.

So my advice is that the best thing put the TV to switch off when you have starting to read or listen the Holy Quran.

JazakAllah Khayr all^ :)

The reason i was asking was, well i was just sat on my laptop listening to the Qura'an, and my brother came and turned the TV on, and next minute he's telling me to turn off the Qura'an, and i was like why should i? (you turn the TV of!) lol..

Anyways JazakAllah Khayr for all your replies^

I already thought it's because someone else was watching the TV. Not you.

Is your brother a muslim too? In that case I find it weird that he tells you to put off Quran. He should know better, no?
