Salaam to everyone,
I am in need of going to a dentist and will require a bridge, crown, and couple of fillings. What do I need to look for or ask a dentist so nothing haram goes into my mouth? I haven't chosen a dentist to go to. I'm not sure what the dental products are made out of, and is it haram to have the teeth glued with glue that might have been made with animal byproducts? During teeth cleaning how will I know if the cleaner is halal? Maybe it contains alcohol.... Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.:D

I believe alcohol for medicinal uses is ok. I've read it on here before when talking about cold medicines.

As Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

Some medicines and mouthwashes contain alcohol - if you can find an non-alcoholic alternative then use that instead. Medicines containing alcohol would be considered halal if there were no suitable alternatives available. It should be noted that only ethyl alcohol (such as methylated spirits and ethanol, the alcohol found in alcoholic drinks) are intoxicating and are therefore haram. Other forms of alcohol (such as stearyl) are not intoxicating. These types of alcohol won't be found in any food or drink due to the fact that they are generally poisonous, but it is a point worth bearing in mind when buying household goods containing these.

Keep your tongue out the way! Just imagine if you catch some glue on it, and then you just happened to touch your rear teeth:p

Wow, apologies for intruding, but I never thought going to the dentist was grounds for a religious discussion. I often wonder how Muslims can even walk out the front door in the morning without consulting some religious elder as to whether it’s allowed!
