Lady Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake) is in the city of Austin, Texas. Lady Bird Lake runs just north of Riverside Drive near the downtown area of Austin. Interstate I-35 goes over Lady Bird Lake as you are driving through Austin.
Lady Bird Lake is 6 miles long and from 400 feet to 2,500 feet wide at it widest point and has an average depth of 14 feet. Lady Bird Lake is just downstream from Lake Austin on the Colorado River.
Lady Bird Lake is a placid lake and is a constant level lake, ideal for canoeing. Swimming, motorized boats and jet skis are not allowed in Lady Bird Lake.

The Austin Zoo is home to monkeys, lions, panthers, prairie dogs, and many more fantastic animals. Our zoo experience is unique- a true Hill County Zoo - where you can get close enough to appreciate each animal. We offer a petting zoo, train ride, concession stand, gift shop, picnic area, and Hill Country views - for an enjoyable afternoon or weekend. It's a great place to get education, entertainment and exercise, all while giving back to the world.
The Austin Zoo is a sanctuary for rescued and abandoned animals - domestic and exotic. We are a private, non-profit organization, not affiliated with city, county, or state government. We rely on your generosity through admission and private donations.

The Dinosaur Park is an educational and fun place for everyone to learn about the majestic animals that ruled our earth for over 150 million years.
Travel back in time as you walk along ten life-size dinosaur replicas on display throughout nature trails. These statues range in size from the 6-foot long Velociraptor to the 40-foot long T-Rex; with additional Dinos to come in the future!
Other activities include a fossil-dig, playground, picnic area, and a wonderful DinoStore stocked with a variety of gifts sure to please any dinosaur fan!

Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve was founded in 1974 to protect 227 acres of Texas Hill Country. Come and enjoy over 3 miles of hiking trails through woodland, grassland, and streamside habitats. Wild Basin also hosts a variety of family events, concerts, adult workshops, children's and school programs. Wild Basin's nature education programs are funded by special events, memberships, corporate donations and grants. Join us and explore nature, together.
Summer Camp - Hill Country Natural Science School 2008
Join us for our half-day summer camp in June! During the cool of the morning campers hit the trails to explore Wild Basin through hands-on activities and games.
