View Full Version : Is every situation the same, or does it depend on context?

Here are a few questions that have been flying throughout my little mind:

Islam strictly prohibits the use of intoxicants (alcahol, drugs, etc.) However, what about drinking, but not to get drunk? Like wine tasting, for instance, when only a little bit of alcahol is taken without the intention of becoming drunk? Is that also against Islam, or is it ok?

Part of being Muslim also is dressing modestly. However, what about when a person does yoga or dance, when the instructor is required to see the shape of the body in order to keep the person from injuring themselves and to help the person move correctly? Or at the doctor's office getting a physical, when in order to make sure the person is healthy clothes must be removed? In these instances, nothing sexual is happening, and usually sexual thoughts are not going through the minds of the people involved (unless you have a really terrible yoga instructor or doctor). Is this still against Islam?

Just wondering what everyone thinks :)
