Yes, one has to be a Muslim in order to go to Jannah.

If one does not believe in Allah, then they will never enter Jannah (Paradise),
and only Jahannum (Hell) is their abode after death.

Jannah is only for those who believe and do good deeds.

So even if a kaafir (disbeliever) does good deeds, but he/she does not believe in Allah,
they can never enter Jannat.

Allah says in the Qur'an:

Verily! Whoever comes to his Lord as a Mujrim (criminal, polytheist, disbeliever, in the Oneness
of Allah and His Messengers, sinner, etc.), then surely, for him is Hell, therein he will neither die
nor live.
But whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer (in the Oneness of Allah, etc.), and has done
righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter), - Everlasting Gardens (And
Paradise), under which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever; such is the reward of those
who purify themselves (by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has
forbidden and by doing all that which Allah has ordained).
(Ch 20:58-76 Quran).

This ayat clearly states that disbelievers in the oneness of Allah
will only enter Jahannum.

Actually, I heard that if you are a good christian or maybe jew or buddish or whatever and you have not been introduced to Islam. But someone who does good deeds then you can go to heaven

but the best answer is:

ONLY Allah knows

Yes, that's true.

If a kaafir does lots of good, but are never introduced to Islam, or hear the wrong
message of Islam, e.g: They are told Muslims worship the moon, and they die
believing this and never hearing the true message of Islam, then they can go to Jannat.

Because what they heard would not have been Islam, it would have been falsehood,
so they would not be disbelieving the truth, they would be disbelieving falsehood,
therefore, they will go to Jannat.

But, as sister aminahgorilla said, the best answer is: Allah knows best.

No they can't!

Allaah tells us in the Qur'aan that only Muslims will enter Jannah.

Of course Allaah knows best, but when He has told us in the Qur'aan, that no disbeliever will enter Jannah, that includes Christians and Jews and Hindus, etc. then we should be straight up in telling people the answer, and not hold back and say 'Allaah Knows Best' because we are afraid of what they will say and how they will judge our religion.

Jannah is a place for PURE people, and any impure people that committ SHIRK are not allowed in it! Full stop.

See this video for more information; Will muslims go to paradise or jannah and nonmuslims to hell

We say "Allah knows best" not because we are afraid of what people will say,
but because we do not know better then Allah as to who will go to Jannat or Jahannum.

Who we are referring to here as kaafirs who will go to Jahannum, are not like the
kaafirs who have heard the truth, and then disbelieve it.

They are kaafirs who have not heard the truth, so they cannot be
disbelieving the truth, for they have never heard it!

Therefore we say they may go to Jannat, for they had not disbelieved ISLAM,
they had disbelieved falsehood!

Had they heard that Muslims worship the moon, for example, and then accepted that
and began to worship the moon, they would have been a Kaafir!

Therefore, those who had not heard the truth, after they die, Allah might forgive
them because of their ignorance of the truth, and enter them into paradise.

No, there is a specific thing for this.

Sheikh Waleed Basyouni said, in his 'World of the Unseen' lecture, that people who are disabled or have not heard the message, on the Day of Judgement, a Messenger will be sent to them. If they believe in him and his words, they will enter Paradise. If they don't, they will enter Hell.

Please stop making assumptions.
Yes, so they will still get to listen to the true message of Islam, and thereafter
choose to accept or reject it, so they will not just be thrown in hell
though they had not heard the message of Islam.

So, regardless, either way they will still be tested, and in the end, only
those who are Muslim will be allowed into Jannat.

So, the answer to the question is...Yes, one has to be a Muslim to enter Jannat.

They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo! whosoever ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evil-doers there will be no helpers." (5:72)So if you do shirk (trinity) then jannah is Haram on you.

And then there is this ayah from surah Ali-Imran
"If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)." (3:85)

The ayah from surah baqarah
"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." (2:62)
This is only referring to the jews and christians and sabians of before. Before Prophet Muhammad and before the Quran were revealed

What Christian unless you live in the Amazon tribe doesnt know about Islam? all of u saying oh well if Christians never heard etc etc, Allah doesnt help those who dont help themselves, people need to get off their backsides and search for the truth, most converts to Islam when you read their story you see they were always SEARCHING and LOOKING for the truth, so fact is this, if your too lazy and never take the time to search for knowledge then you have no excuse to say oh but i didnt hear about Islam! you didnt hear about it because you were too lazy to go looking! we live in an age were info on anything is so easy to aqquire, in 10 mins of searching you can find loads of info on satanists alone.

so no, even if you dont hear about Islam hell waits for you, because you didnt take the time to look for yourself, what you think Allah is your servant or driver to come to your lazy backside and say ISLAM! no it doesnt work that way.

Those who are not aware of Islaam, who are ignorant and have not been exposed to the message of Islaam, then yes, Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta'alaa) might forgive a certain category of such people; only Allaah knows their intentions and He alone can pass such judgements.

Salam alaikum,

Dear brother in rder for one to obtain Jannah (paradise not heaven) one must not only be a muslim but a practising muslim.

nowadays you have many people that call themselves muslims but are worse than the disbelievers, so merely just saying the shahada and believing in Allah swt and only Allah swt is not enough.
I know non practising muslim brothers and sisters that go by the believe that as long as i am born a muslim and believe in Allah swt then i am saved from the hellfire. so they eat haram... meat and poultry that was not sacrificed for Allah swt, they don't even think that salah has any importance, they drink and commit many sinful acts.
All in all i would say they are worse than the kafir because at least the kafir dont believe in Allah swt they have not been given the privilige of being born into a muslim family or background, these people know about Allah swt they have His devine message the holy Qur'an sitting in their shelves at home but yet do nothing about it.

if a muslim brother or sister wants their eternal final destination to be jannah then they have to work hard for it, they must strive hard to please Allah swt and abstain from doing things that displease Him.
They must follow His message, the Qur'an and live by abiding its laws and teachings and implement them in their lives.

they have to become righteous and guard themselves from thier number one enemy the shaytaan, they will have to turn to Allah swt and totally submit themselves to Him as His slaves and do everything for His sake and His sake only. everyday their mission should be doing plenty of good deeds to please their Lord and have themselves prepared with their deeds ready for the angel of death. in order to do that our brothers and sisters that are just muslim but not practising need to wake up!!!!!!!!!

they need to turn to Allah swt and repent with a sincere heart and ask for His forgiveness and mercy for Allah swt is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
and ask Him to guide their hearts to the straight path and leave their old lives behind full of sin and heading towards nothing but eternal destruction!

I hope that this has somewhat aswered your question Insha'Allah.
I pray for our ummah they are always in my duas and i just pray that Insha'Allah Allah swt answers my prayers and bestows Hos mercy and forgiveness upon us and makes us His righteous slaves and bestows His endless bounties upon us Insha'Allah

I agree with the above that one MUST know what is needed to be a Muslim and not just be Muslim like name. The latter is sadly the state of a lot of the ummah. In fact one ayat (verse) from the Qur'an says :

Know, none has the right to be worshipped expect Allah then seek forgiveness for your sins.

In Arabic the 'Know' is written as 'Fa'lam' which is the 'Order tense' - basically this is a direct command from Allah. You HAVE TO know what the shahaadah means in order to be a Muslim. It also has seven (some list 8) conditions.

However, ask a lot of Muslims you come across what it means and they fail to answer properly. Some that do know just fall into some types of major shirk like calling upon the dead which negates the tawheed i.e. that which is needed to enter paradise. This is why we see the humiliation of the Muslims - mass ignorance of the basics of their religion.

I have heard something, and Allah knows best, about those non-Muslims who never hear the message of Islam. For example, people in remote areas like the Amazon jungles. They will be given some kind of test or questioning in the next life and if they answer correctly they enter paradise.
