The timings have not been fully discussed, however, they are going to start at 11am Insha'Allah and most likely Murtaza Khan will be the first speaker. The talks are likely to last for an hour each.

I agree, we had to go right to the other end of the park to eat. it would have been nice if they'd had a closed off area for the sisters and one for the bros or something. Still it was worth going for the lectures and stuff. Wasn't Yvonne Ridely supposed to be there? or maybe she did turn up and i never noticed lol

SubhanAllaah, we have soooo many blessings to be grateful for..family, friends, food, health, a fun day out etc alhamdulillaah. There are those out there who are starving wid hunger, imprisoned.. tortured etc. One day Allaah will ask us abt the days we enjoyed n our countless blessings. Murtaza Khan's speech was a bit disappointing though it was okay, Jalal Ibn Sa'eed's was emaan-boosting but he said some dodgy stuff...

Us bros had a stall we made loads Alhamdulillaah, all the moneys for charity anywayz...and Yvonne Ridley couldnt make it, she had to go to another country, cant remember which...

the free-mixing was messed.

Salaam,

Lol sis amani didn't know you'd be there 8-)

It was good... but as the brother mentioned segregation was an issue.. which is of course difficult but it would have been good to have the stalls in a better location etc.. Coz it seemed to become quite cramped. :| I didn't even get any food.... :o0 highlight of the day gone!

Nah Subhanallah, Allah reward the organisers for their sincere and great efforts. They did a great job from their side I think and it's clear as well. You can't control the majority of people from wandering into the 'other space'. The speeches were good - but I think it's down to the individuals for their lack of interest in the speeches, As brother Jalal pointed out.

Peoples priorities are different nowadays, it was more a fun day out for majority than a day to spend in benefitting the soul and educating oneself in Deen.

Allah have Mercy..

And LOL....annoying thing was the bro's blocking ur path asking for dontations, its like...'erm, I already paid the entrance fee like three times' and then another dude comes and asks for it again. A little rude when they give u no way to get past. But I made my lil sis give it and she cudnt get the cash into the box...lol

Oh and we didnt get a donkey ride piskel :p not that we would have but anyway...and btw..I dont think the segregation was that bad....like the families and bro's was mostly at top and if the sisters had stayed towards the borrom wudda been good...I missed Kamaluddin tho :(

And Jalal Ibn Sa'eed, I thought was quite good actually, although I didnt pay proper attention :-[ and I missed the rest of the lectures since....erm what was I doing? :p lol I dunno :-[ But yeahh....best thing was meeting 5 LI sisters :p :D

First thing was he didnt give the right answer to the question, does neglecting Salaah make one a kaafir, he failed to show both sides correctly and ignored the 6th condition of the shahadah - Submission.

Secondly, towards the end, he way over did the Eid thing, and made it sound far more important than it was, and actually said that he believed having a unity on Eid was the solution to unifying the ummah - basically he was trying to sell his "1Eid" event.

Thirdly, he said it was halaal for us to live in this country so long as we pay a bit of money towards da'wah (now for anyone who has studied, or researched a little about hijrah they would know how stupid this sounds). Its not allowed to live in a non-muslim country save a few exceptions, and they are on a temporary basis.

I'm slightly confused as to what you mean by a right answer. Aren't there different opinions with regards to whether neglecting Salaah makes one a kaafir or not? n I think due to the shortage of time, Jalal Ibn Sa'eed only gave a short n brief answer saying tht:

1. Those who believe prayer is not compulsory n it is enough to have a good heart, are not believers (because they are outrightly rejecting the verses of the Qur'aan)

2. Those who do not pray but they believe salaah to be compulsory (i.e they do not reject the verses of the Qur'aan) are faasiq and sinners.

nothin dodgy abt tht. hmm.

Secondly, towards the end, he way over did the Eid thing, and made it sound far more important than it was, and actually said that he believed having a unity on Eid was the solution to unifying the ummah - basically he was trying to sell his "1Eid" event.
I was not able to hear this lecture unfortunately, but don't you think it would be more better n more safer for us, if we gave 70 excuses before allowing ourselves to think that? :blind:

n by believing that having unity on Eid is the solution to unifying the Ummah is not really tht dodgy :hmm: There are more than one solutions to unifying the Ummah, nothing toooo dodgy abt tht, right? hmm. Ask him how, maybe he'll explain. wa Allaahu a'lim.

He said it was not allowed for us to live in a non muslim country unless we gave Da'wah, n this is true. JazakAllaah Khayr for the recordings, I would like to listen to those lectures again insha'Allaah.

from what i understood he said dawah is the thing that makes it allowed for us to live in this country, so we should give money and support dawah in any form we can :? or something like that

and your ahem didnt answer my question.
Was it a book stall? there were quite a few of them :?

What is Ruqiah and Hujama? Where in the Sunnat is this mentioned? How come I've never heard of it before?

I think the translations in the brackets are a lil' confusing. Hijaamah basically is cupping, and here's a piece on Ruqyah.

only kids were allowed on the jumping castle. not adults. even if youre someone elses kid and youre an adult.

Jolie... I'll be listening to wat u have to say to amani! :o

Segregation yeah of coursseee thats true HOWEVER.... it makes it a little uncomfortable. Personally, I didn't go to any of the stalls, or even have any food :| because it was quite queued up etc... it would have been good to have brothers on one side with their stalls, and sisters on another with their stalls - that includes books, etc, and food. So basically bros have their side for their things and you can have the same stalls they have - for women. Thats possible, is it not?

But again, a good sincere effort masha allah. I just wish the crowds were more interested in the talks than the rides and attraction outside. Allah make it so the next time anything like this happens..

:sl:

Aameen. Maybe many of them were interested, but because they were parents with kids screaming to go on the rides, they couldn't attend the lectures. I myself missed the Eid Lecture because I had to take my younger cousin to the toilets and on a donkey ride. :exhausted

No. If you miss out Salaah you are kaafir. That was the Sahaabahs opinions. Refer to my sig for more information.
