Biography of Shaykh ‘Aadil al-Kalbaani

He is ‘Aadil bin Saalim bin Sa’eed al-Kalbaani. He was born on Friday the 25th Ramadhaan 1378AH, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is married and has 5 sons and 7 daughters.

He had his first reading with the distinguished Shaykh Hasan bin Ghaanim al-Ghaanim, with who he studied Thalaathat al-Usool, Kashf ash-Shayhaat, and from Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Sunan at-Tirmidhi and Tafseer ibn-Katheer.

He studied with Shaykh Mustafa Muslim, professor at al-Imam University, the Usool ad-Deen faculty.

With Shaykh Abdullaah bin ‘Abdur-Rahmaan al-Jibreen he studied Kitaab at-Tawheed from Saheeh al-Bukhari, a large part of Kitaab al-Imaan in Saheeh Muslim.

He studied Qur’aan with Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa and has ‘Ijazah in the Hafs ‘an ‘Aasim riwaayah through ash-Shaatibi. He also received ‘Ijaazah for the same riwaayah from Shaykh Muhammad Tabhaan bin Husayn al-Misri and ‘ijaazah from Shaykh Muhammad Abu Rawaash.

From Shaykh Muhammad ‘Abdul-Hameed he has ‘ijaazah in the riwaayah Qaloon ‘an-Naafi’ through ash-Shaatibi. He studied Baqarah with Shaykhah Umm Sa’d in the recitation of Abi ‘Umar al-Basri in the Riwaayah ad-Doori and as-Soosi.

Where do the imams go after they lead their 10 rakats. Like I'll see shuraim lead the first 10 but then when juhanee does the next 6 or 10, I don't see shuraim in the first row. Do they leave the masjid and miss taraweeh and Witr?

1. Jannah and its beauty

3. The fact that we should do good deeds in order to attain this beautiful Jannah.

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Abdurrahman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Sudais, Imam and Public Speaker of the Sacred Mosque in Holy Mecca

Abu Abdulaziz Abdurrahman Bin Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Bin Mohamad Bin Abdullah, called “AlSudais”, his origin is related to the famous tribe “Anza”.

From Al Bakirya Governorate, Al Qusaim Area.
Place of Birth: Riyadh in 1382 A.H.

Thanks to Allah then to his parents, Al Sudais memorized the Holy Quran when he was 12 years old. His father caused him to join the Holy Quran Memorization Group in Riyadh, supervised by His Eminence Sheikh Abdurrahman Bin Abdullah Al Faryan,
and then, directed by Reciter Sheikh Mohammad Abdulmajed until Allah favored him with number of teachers of the Group, the last one of them was Sheikh Mohammad Ali Hassan.


His early life and study:
He grew in Riyadh and joined Al Muthana Bin Harith Elementary School, then Riyadh Scientific Institution; where his most famous Sheikhs were
Sheikh Abdullah Al munif,
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman AlT waijiri, and others. He graduated from the Institution in 1399 A.H. with a grade of excellence.

His involvement in the university activities:
Al Sudais was appointed as a lecturer at Shariah College after he was graduated from the jurisprudence Principles Section there of,
and he passed the preliminary (methodology) stage in excellent grade.
His most famous Sheikh at the said Section was Scholar Sheik Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman Al Ghadian. He worked as an imam and public speaker in number of Riyadh mosques, the last of which was the Mosque of the late Scholar Sheikh Abdurrazaq Al afifi (may God have mercy on his soul).

Beside his ordinary education at the College, he was learned by number of sheikhs of mosques and gained benefits from them, including, but without limitation,:
(1) His Eminence the late Scholar Sheikh Abdulaziz Ibn Baz (mayGod have mercy on his soul)
(2) The late Sheikh Abdurrazaq Afifi (may God have mercy on his soul)
(3) Sheikh Dr. Saleh A fawzan
(4) Sheikh Abdurrahman Bin Naser Al barrak
(5) Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al rajihi,
In addition to other sheikhs may Allah give them His best rewards.
In addition to being a lecturer at the College, Al Sudais worked as a teacher in Al dawa Imam Scientific Institution.

In 1404 A.H., the Noble Order was issued appointing him as an imam and public speaker at the Sacred Mosque. He commenced his work in the month of Shaaban of the same year, on Sunday 22.8.1404 A.H.at Al asr (afternoon) prayer. He made his first speech in Ramadan on 15.9of the same year.

In 1408 A.H., he obtained the Master Degree from the Shariah College, Imam Mohammad Bin Masood Islamic University,jurisprudence Principles Section, and had the excellence grade for his the is “jurisprudent Issues relating to the Shariah evidence where by Ibn Qudamah Al Ghazali made his contradiction”. The said thesis was supervised by Scholar Sheikh Abdurrazaq Afifi, but due to his health conditions, the supervision of this was continued by Sheikh Dr.Abdurrahman Aldarwish. After that, Al Sudais worked as a lecturer at the Judicature Section,Shariah College, Umm Alqura University in the Sacred Mecca.

In 1416 A.H., He obtained the doctorate degree with an excellence grade from the Shariah College at Umm Al qura University,with a recommendation to print his thesis titled“ The Clear in the Jurisprudence Principles by Abi Alwafa Bin Oqail Alhanbali:


study and inspection”:
The said was supervised by Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Fahmi Abu Sunnah,and discussed by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulmuhsen Alturki, the Secretary of the Islamic World Union,
and Dr. Ali Bin Abbas Al Hakami, Chairman of Shariah High Studies at Umm Alqura University at the time being. Then, he was appointed as an assistant professor in Shariah College, Umm Alqura University.

His missionary works
In addition to his work as imam and public speaker: Al Sudais performs teaching at the Sacred Mosque, under the Noble Order issued in 1416 A.H.

The time of teaching follows the afternoon prayer, which includes,
the belief, jurisprudence,interpretation, and Al Hadith in addition to his participation in the seasons of hajj and other activities. He made sever almissionary trips inside and outside Mecca including many Arab and foreign countries. He participated in a number of the forums and conferences and the opening of a number of mosques and Islamic centers all over the world inaccordance with the noble directions to this effect. He has membership in number of scientific,missionary and charity entities, and was nominated by His Eminence the lateScholar Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Baz for the membership of the Shariah Department of Aid Islamic affiliated with the Islamic World Union and other entities. He had participations in certain media through his various articles and speeches. He has missionary activity through participation in lectures and sessions inside the KSA and abroad.

His books and researches:
He has scientific interests through teaching and classification including certain researches, studies, inspections, and various treatise which will be published in the near future, such as:
1. jurisprudent Issues relating to the Shariah evidence whereby Ibn Qudamah Al Ghazali made his contradiction
2. The Clear in the Jurisprudence Principles (Study and inspection)
3. Collection of the Eminent Sermons near the Holly Kaba
4. Providing the eager person with glimpse of the methodology and biography of Sheikh Abdulrazzaq
5. The most significant factors in the piety of teachers
6. The role scholars in reporting the provisions of Shariah
7. A message to the Moslem woman
8. The hoped comment on three principles
9. The clear explanations of the five comprehensive rules

He has a number of scholarship researches and projects relating to his specialty in the principles of jurisprudence,
including, but without limitation:

(1) Sheikh Abdurrazaq Afifi and his jurispruden methodology
(2) God’s word between the scholars of jurisprudence and religion principles
(3) Dictionary of the jurisprudent terms,definition and documentation, which is the base of an integrated jurisprudenten cyclopedia.
(4) The jurisprudent teams, investigation, explanation and documentation
(5) Correction of some jurisprudent subjects in accordance with the ancestors methodology
(6) Taking care in manifesting Al Hanabila jurisprudence, and serving the investigation of certain books of heritage..

Sheikh Humaid began his khutbah with the praises of Allah, durood on Raulullah S.A.W. and enjoined us to adopt the the taqwa of Allah for therin lies success.

Ramadan is the coolness of the eyes for the pious servants of Allah. It is a month wherin they reap maximum benifit.
Fasting is a shield for the beliver, a shield from the fire of jahanum.
What do you know regarding the night of power. it is a night which is geater in virtue than a thousand months.
Despite this there are many hearts in need of advice because they have distanced themselves.
those that are turning away from Allah were are you going to run to? Those that are wasting time, realize what you are losing out on!
O mankind seek protection from Allah from being an unfortunate person in ramadan, beware of falling in the catogery of those who Allah will seal their hearts.
Our actions are based on the last part of it, so increase in good actions and ibaadah in the last 10 nights as this is what it will be baded on.
The best form of gaining closesness of Allah is zikr. Allah says I am what my servant thinks of me.
let us increase in abundance of righteousness and in sadaqa. that person who feeds a fasting person he will be given the same reward without the fasting persons reward being decreased.
Try to make habitiual the love and worship of Allah.
Exert yourselve and increase in ibaadah in the night if not then al least in the day.
Send forth with these days, use these days to stock up with good actions for the hereafter.
if we do not have our sins forgiven in these days then when will we?
Remember time is passing very fast and this dunya is being folded up at a rapid pace.
Allah wants to forgive and accept our repentance it is through our desires that we make difficult for ourselves. We should use our time in the ibaadah of Allah. Sheikh spoke about laylatul qadr and concluded with dua

First African leads prayer at Ka’abah

ShEikh Adil Al-Kalibany made history last Friday when he became the first black man to lead hundreds of thousands of Muslim faithful in a prayer at the Grand Mosque of Ka'abah. In Islam, it is the ultimate of honour to be appointed an Imam in the Haram.
His baritone but melodious voice reverberated as he recited the Glorious verses of the Qur’an at the epoch making Tarawiyy prayers. He led the multitude of faithful after both Sheikh Ash-Shuraim and Sheikh Al-Juhniyy offered the early segments of the 20-units Tarawiyy prayer.
A senior Saudi official disclosed to this reporter that since his appoinment as one of the Chief Imams of the Haram, Sheikh Al-Kalibany has been expressing his profound gratitude to Allah for making it possible for him to attain such a reverred status.
He pointed out that the honour was a clear testimony that Qur'an can elevate the status of anyone who commits to its recitation and observance, attributing his new found position to his commitment to the Glorious Book.
Sheikh Al-Kalibany has been a Chief Imam at King Khalid Mosque in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Kingdom.
He had been leading prayers there for the past five years. Sheikh Al-Kalibany has been noted for his immense schorlaship, piety and his deep melodious Qur'anic recitation. His ancestors are said to be from Sudan..

The only year which the quality was video fairly good was in 2005 I believe when Imam Shuraim and Sudais led the taraweeh.

Does anyone know what night will the imams be reciting from Suratul Haqqah and if shaykh Sudais will be the one to recite it as I know this is one surah that he sometimes has to pause for a few seconds before continuing due to his emotions.

Since Imam Sudais/Shuraim leading Tahajjud now, it will be one of the other 4 imams. If they keep their current rotations it should probably be either Imam Mahir or Kalbani.

anyone know if they ever have high quality purchasable videos of the Mecca/Medinah taraweeh's?

When I was in Makkah a few years ago, I bought a DVD set for the 1426 Taraweehs [Makkah & Madinah], which are great and in high quality too. You'll have to wait a few months but it should be available again, Insha'Allah.

Also, HaramainRecordings and Islam-fr are great sites, for recordings.

Those from Soennah weren't recorded from internet, but was from Hunayn Productions, so naturally the quality will be really high. We could make the video quality 500 kbps and high quality, but it would be a huge file which would take forever to convert to wmv and upload. Kinda difficult...

I duno if they will be available in videos/DVD. When I went for Hajj, I remember seeing the 2005 videos being sold, and I'm sure they have it every year, but am not 100%.

Not sure what was going on with Imam Kalbani's recitation tonight. He usually has a really nice rhythm when he reads but today it sounded different.

^Ya I just saw the du'a by mohaisany yesterday and the video said that he was leading in masjid al haram and that he was arrested immediately after the dua. I did some research and it appears that this is false. But the dua was amazing, the video of it on YouTube just distorts it and puts pics of OBL and 9--11 to make it look like one of those types of videos. So the video was bad, the dua was awesome.

But did sudais ever say that Jews were the scum of the earth lol I heard it from like 3 different sources. Do the imams ever get in trouble for stuff like that?

Shame that Shaykh Thubaity hasn't been leading Tahajjud this year, I hope that he or Shaykh al Budayr does the Eid Salaah and Khutbaah in Madeenah, Insha'Allah!.

Shaykh Hussayn al Shaykh has been amazing this year, i think his recitations in Tahajjud are the best i have ever heard!

no he was reprimanded. man that was a good khutbah.
and yeh he pretty much said that when he was making a khutbah for Palestine, plus quoted the ayahs that they were turned into apes and pigs..and the media twisted the whole thing. On the same day (and the week before) a similiar khutbah was in Madinah (they must have planned it lol) but the media didnt pick up on that.

what are those people talking about? Ive heard him mention Iraq in his duas this year atleast twice.

The "fake" part is that he did not give the dua at Masjid Haram. It was at his mosque. He was arrested though and put in jail. They let him out a few years ago.

Here is a very rare video where you get to see Imam Muhaisany upclose. He has one of the best voices ever and gets emotional almost every surah. It would be unbelievable he was the Imam at Mecca or Madina.
