Dear Nora's DUI reform supporters: Greetings/Salam/Peace!
On behalf of Nora's campaign to reform our state's current DUI laws and to enforce justice; we would like to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for your kind, prompt and significant response to our short-notice call for action.
I would like to congratulate all of us on a huge win for Nora, you, rule of law and justice! The Honorable Judge Hoffman declined the defendant's motion and reaffirmed the bail at $100,000. In fact the judge went further and attached additional restrictions on the defendant in the case of conditional release, requiring him to adhere to house arrest with a SCRAM bracelet monitoring device that even senses any alcohol intake into the blood, which immediately revokes his release conditions in the case he was able to produce his bailout, pending his trial.
Within this very short notice (less than 24 hours), we received almost 170 letters from you calling on the honorable judge to decline the reduction in bail amount or facilitate the release of Nora's DUI killer – pending his trial.
We forwarded all of your gracious letters to the court in time for the court date of Tuesday November 4th at 11:00 and the Judge read them and rendered her firm decision. The judge allowed for five of us to address the court before rendering her final determination. Well over 70 members of our great community attended this first court session, despite this very short notice.
The feedback that I received from the esteemed prosecutor and MADD representatives expressed great respect, admiration and reverence for the level of discipline, convection and family you all exhibited at the court and through your sincere letters!
Again, thank you genuinely for being such a model community, and please continue your prayers and support for Nora's cause and calling.
Very truly yours,
Nora Risha's family and her young campaign team
