Du'a Before entering washroom.

Are we supposed to read it when we step inside the bathroom or before we step in the bathroom. Cause in the past 4 years i've been reading the Du'a while i had entered the bathroom. now i find out that you're supposed to read it before entering the bathroom. Did my previous Du'as count for the past for years or so. Someone tell me the answer
