We could choose whatever we wanted. I chose comic book art.

final peices?
Black and white line (and paint) picture of some invented superhero kicking this thug in the face.

The composition was fantastic in terms of emulating comic book art. I'm not boasting. It was exactly like a splash panel, with the hero in the background sending his foe hurtling straight at the viewer, face first. The art style was probably too 'comic booky' for the examiners' tastes though.

But I'm not bitter. :p

Did you have a sketchbook?
any pictures?
:X
You mean, do I have them with me? The ones relevant to my coursework? I wish. I never retrieved them from the school. :(

I suppose I could knock out another version of my final piece, if only to satisfy my own ego. :p

Should go without saying, but if you are allowed to choose any subject, make sure it is one you feel passionate about and that is fairly easy for you to reproduce well ad infinitum. We had to produce so many coursework pieces that I just started drawing some for fun.

Textures. Hmm... Jackson Pollock? Although it would be next to impossible to perfectly copy his pieces for coursework purposes.

Collage?

Maybe Escher?

You could perhaps look at the way Rembrant in certain pieces gave the paint itself a physical quality for a different, tactile effect, rather than the portraits themselves.

Or you could look at patterns, I suppose. Fractals and what have you.

Cool, go for it.

Well, when I did my Art GCSE, for our courseworks we basically just reproduced other artists' work. Naturally, those artists would all exhibit styles we would emulate in our final pieces.

So, yes, it should be okay to copy the artwork with annotation - but you should ask your teacher for clarification. It's been a while since my GCSE's...

also do you any other artists that i could link to?
Um... No, I'm afraid. Not really my area of expertise. :-[ However, Wiki splits 'texture' into four different types - with a bit of work, you should be able to find artists producing the kind of style you want to emulate.

Also: the librarian, like Google, is your friend.

Salaam sis..

I did GCSE Art. The thing with art is it can be abstract as you like, as long as you can explain it and relate it back to the theme. We always did an initial mood board type of thing where we just put down all our ideas relating to the theme, additional research, relevant artists etc... and maybe have a sort of a sub theme... e.g. with textures you could go into nature and look into natural forms and identify the different textures and base your work around that.

I remember some of our themes were: illusions, inside outside erm cant remember the rest but they were pretty wide and really allowed me to express myself at that time. Although sometimes the teachers tried to influence our ideas and I remember I cried in the middle of my art exam because i hated the whole idea and only went with it because my teacher thought it would get me a best mark. I guess she was right because I got an A*... but I still believe in freedom to express yourself in your art work!!

To all you youngsters out there ................. i do art and if you are doing texture then i have a couple of ideas which worked well for me, i work on canvas. The autumn leaves are beautiful colours res/yellows/oranges absolutely beautiful, i have collected some and stuck them onto canvas with PVA glue make sure you cover the tops of the leaves with the glue, when it is dry it gives you like a varnished look.......... you can then work over the top.

Another idea is string........... do your work with string and then use tissue paper to add colour again using PVA glue for a nice finished look........ Don't go strealing any ideas now!!! LOL and good luck with your exams.....:w:

:sl: Hey you are welcome also another idea to do a collage from ripped up bits from magazines.............................. Wax is another cool idea so many ideas as they come into my head i will let you know.............:w::bump1:

Forgot to mention that if you use the leaf idea remember to pull the stems off before you stick them down on your canvas.......................

:sl: Another effective way is to work on glass with glass paints and the lead that you can buy from any art shops............... If the school won't allow you to work on glass....... Health and safety etc etc then you could buy the plastic sheets that are used on projectors. We don't have them in our school anymore instead we use whiteboards which are ultra cool.................

Out-line your piece of work with the lead first and then add in colour with the glass paints....................:w::bump1:
