I come from a Christian background, and I have studied a lot of the bible. A lot of my becoming Muslim has to do with what I learned in the bible.

But one of my most favorite things to read is the Sermon on the Mount in the gospel of Matthew. Jesus is teaching the people about Islam. Or if you are Christian, then he is teaching about the righteous life. :)

Please consider the following, which is how we should ALL live our lives:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

"No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth." Matt. 6-24

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon (as) in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you- you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?" For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

"So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today." Matt. 6:25-34

Forget about this world and submit to Allah swt! I know a lot of you probably cringe at the thought of learning Islam from the Bible, but man, read the sermon on the mount! You might be apt to cry because Isa (as) pretty much describes all of our flaws and how to avoid them. It is so beautiful! :thumbs_up

It doesn't matter if you are Muslim or what, this is how God wants us to live.

Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to). Imran 3:14

Let not their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle thee: in reality Allah.s plan is to punish them with these things in this life, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of Allah. Tawbah 9:55

Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world: But the things that endure, good deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes. Kahf 18:46

It is not your wealth nor your sons, that will bring you nearer to Us in degree: but only those who believe and work righteousness - these are the ones for whom there is a multiplied Reward for their deeds, while secure they (reside) in the dwellings on high! Saba 34:37

I have no problem with that concept either. Indeed I have preached those very thoughts from the pulpit on many occassions.
